Seek out modding communities with discord channels. The discord tend to be active, generally.
If you just want to change a single weapon e.g. that is no big deal and you can do it easily yourself with the guides available.
An experienced mod creator might be able to change stats of a weapon within mehre minutes.
I did try looking up guides, but they were all dated before the new modding tools and tended to involve downloading Blender among other things. I also just don't have the drive to learn modding from scratch. People who do it are wonderful and magical creatures, because my brain simply just doesn't work that way.
That's understandable, I suspect most mod authors do too. I frequently see creators mention in their mods that they don't want to be begged for ideas, so I guess entitled users nagging creators is common enough/enough of a problem for creators to just be like "SCREW THIS, NOPE".
I'll try my luck on their Discord - thank you.
Nope.
These are pretty anti-woke to say the least:

You know what it's called, but can't find it? Sounds like a you problem.
A +1 trident that leaves an ice patch under the enemy when hit.

I completely agree with you - this is why I'd be looking to pay someone for their time, rather than just heckling everyone who's ever opened mod manager and demanding they make something for me. Very familiar with commissioned freelance work both from the client and creator sides of the fence, I've just been unsure of what avenues/forums are available for reaching out to the people I hope to reach other than dropping messages on Nexus and seeing if there are any nibbles.
if you've reached out to multiple modders and keep getting ghosted, it could be you're not being specific enough in your message, or your request can't be done or is out of the scope of what that modder typically does.
could also be people dont like the idea of being offered money, since thats almost always a scam. patreon is probably the best way to financially support a mod author, but that doesnt guarantee they'll do what you want.
also, i havnt looked at the modding tools for BG3, but I know that adding new weapons to games is more difficult than just editing an existing weapon. for example, it would be easier to change shadowheart's starting mace into some custom made magical tier 3 sword than to create that tier 3 sword from scratch, add it to loot tables, give it prices and place it somewhere. So maybe you'd find it easier to just edit an existing weapon into what you want.
Just a +1 mace that gives Reverberation and that's available in the Druid's Grove. If I were to try to make it myself, I think that's all I'd aim for. There are heaps of super OP weapons or homages to legendary items on the mod shop, but I'm mostly interested in build-enabling minor items that are available early on.
For something more fancy/paid work, there are weapons on the mod list that scale with player level (Underwood weapons for example). A reverberation weapon that does that would be freakin' rad. At the moment the only weapon that applies it is the trident from the djinn in Act 3, which is way too far into the game for the player to start living out thunderclappin' fantasies.
