I've been getting mixed answers. Can you turn extreme violence and gore off?
I'm past the phase in my life where I need to see innards and s***. It just depresses me now. Is there an option to turn this off or am I SOL?

You don't see extreme violence or gore in the game very often at all... There's a handful of scenes I can think of which you can just skip through. The worst ones are probably the death of Alfira and Karlach if you play Durge, cutting off Nere's head (you just see the head, not the act), stabbing the nameless guy with the crow in the Shadowlands and letting Astarion end Cazador.

I don't remember much of that to begin with... There's the corpse of the Bard you kill as Durge, but aside from that, I don't remember a whole lot of gore or extreme violence. Could be that I'm numb to it, though.

There's also yanking the brain out of the body in the beginning.

If it is just about bloody gore stuff, then yes.

What the rest said. And to answer the question. No, you can't turn it off.

I can think of a fair number of places in this game where you can find piles of "viscera" or other such remnants of people. There is a setting to avoid showing "violent cinematics", but completely avoiding blood/gore in this game would be impossible. Maybe there is a mod for that.

It's really aimed at the story especially Shar and the like where the gore is. Imo it would defeat the purpose to remove it.

Don't even think about going to the oubliette under Moonrise towers. Ugh.

Just went to the remnants of a caravan in the first chapter that do have some piles of viscera and cut out limbs and the option to hide violent content does not affect it, so it works for cinematics only, it seems.

In short, no, you cannot turn off the gore.

That seems like it's a bit of a pointless option to select then.

Having viscera lying around is not the same with gory violence. One is decoration.

Yep. I have a lot of eviscerated people hanging in my home and garden. They add such a charm to the neighborhood...

Right. It is that time of the year again.

Baldur's Gate 3 is an M rated game that assumes the player is mature enough to handle it. You should go back to Fortnite if you don't like it.
