New update crashing the game. Any fixes?

Since the update came out today, anytime I try and boot it up it crashes instantly. Does anyone know why that would happen and how to fix it. I'm on Mac if that helps.

Did you reboot and verified game files and repaired Steam Library?

Unfortunately I can´t help you, but I have the same problem with Windows (but I have some problems after every update, which are then fixed and then it works fine again..until the next update )

Crashes as well, with files verified and all that. Does give the initial splash with Larian merch etc etc, then click that white box, and boooom. Down she goes, with a bang. Edit: on a mac

I can get into the game fine, but as soon as i try to load in my solo game or the one i am doing with a friend the game crashes. Hope its fixed soon I did everything I knew to do to fix it with no luck.

After installing the update the game was crashing anytime I tried to load a saved game (on a Mac) but I found a solution that worked for me and hopefully will for others.

Potential workaround (still testing this theory to see if it's universally true):
- if you select the character name/campaign name from the top level of the list of saves and then click load game it crashes
- if you click on the disclosure arrow next to the character name/campaign name and select a specific save point and then click load game it doesn't crash

Edit: If the game is crashing on launch before you even get to the load save screen then update your OS to MacOS Sequoia 15.0

If you had any mods installed separately from the game and not through the bg3 mod page then you need to manually remove them from both locations

Mine is crashing on start too. Files verified, no mods, on a mac.

Same problem. no mods. on mac. tried the suggested fix of turning on cloud saves and still no luck

I can get in a play the last character save file, but it will crash after I quit that character and go back into the main menu or try to select another character to play. all started after patch today.

I am having the same issue. I tried literally everything to fix it and nothing has worked so I'm assuming its a core update issue. edit:on a mac

Absolutely the same problem on Mac. After the update the game simply does not start and shows an error and asks to send a report

I'm a Mac user, and I'm also experiencing the same issues. No mods or anything. I've verified the files, etc., but no dice. EDIT: I did just attempt verification a second time. It said "One file failed to validate. Will reacquire." I'll let you know if I figure out anything.

I am having the exact same issue, with the one failed validated file. so far havent been able to play and crashes right after i select the "play" button

Same problem: Crash on startup. On Mac (M2). Just updated to latest patch. Can no longer play.

Crashed after update, doesn't even get into the intro animation, this is really frustrating
