Sunwalker's Gift ring not working?
The ring Sunwalker's Gift is supposed to give darkvision but doesn't actually seem to do anything at all

Do you mean there is no visual effect similar to others having darkvision? From what I remember, Lae'zel with this ring doesn't get disadvantage attacking in dark places. Could be that some hotfix or such has bugged this.

It says you can see in the dark when equipped, but when my human puts it on I still can't see anything

Same, I play as human. Tried using the ring in dark places and there was no difference.

Have you tried what happens when you try and make attack rolls? Do you get disadvantage?

I haven't tried using it in combat because it doesn't do what it says it's supposed to do. It says it gives dark vision yet nothing changes and everything is still dark

it does not light up the area like a torch it allows the wearer of the ring to see the enemy in the dark and actually hit it with an attack

You can't see anything though, so how can you see it when you can't see it??

before in BG1&2 Darkvision highlighted important stuff in red, sadly in BG3 it only determine if you attack with disadvantage or not while obscured. for dark area the best workaround is the light cantrip or a torches bearer.

Why would the dark vision from the ring be any different than any other dark vision in the game?
MystShade Sep 27, 2024 @ 5:37pm
it's not? all race with darkvision work like that in the game.
BG1&2 were different games, I though you where expecting that, but it doesn't do that.

in 5th edition dnd, darkness give disadvantage on perception check
this check impact your ability to (passively) see traps and hit enemies that are obscured

if your humans use the ring, he won't have the "too dark" disadvantage in act 2
if you don't use the ring, you will need to activate chandeliers, torches or use magic to increase your hit chance.

It does though, because other sources of dark vision let you see in the dark, but this one still leaves everything too dark to see. I'm not talking about game mechanics, I'm talking about actually being able to see like the ring says and like every other dark vision source allows.
