Lae'zel is simply a part of an indoctrinated race that from the moment they're born are brainwashed into believing everything Queen Vlaakith says as undeniable truth and law, to never question nor doubt her will.
She stands out from most Githyanki because unlike others she is a devoted student by their definition and as such her studies about the zaith'isk led her to believe it 'purifies' the individual, which it does by killing the user and extracting their memories (something she doesn't know).
So once she sees the actual zaith'isk in work she refuses to believe that's its purpose because 'surely Vlaakith would not kill her children', so she searches for another logical explanation - thus coming to the conclusion that the doctor must be a traitor who tampered with it.
So there is no traitor. The Githyanki are working exactly as Queen Vlaakith ordained since everyone outside her trust circle are nothing but cattle to her, intended to maintain the lie so she can pursue her godhood.
It's just Lae'zel unable to accept the truth of reality. The actual 'traitor' in the Creche is actually Kith'rak Voss, who is working against Vlaakith to help the Githyanki free themselves of her tyranny.
