Redcaps
Can you guys please nerf Redcaps a little? I have a 4th level group that is constantly getting TPKd because the Redcaps are one shotting evberyone in my group. They are very much OPd. Thanks.

Redcaps are ****ing mean in 5e. They will kick the **** out of your shins.

Wonder if using that Create Water spell as a Cleric will instantly kill them. Lore suggests that getting a hold of a Redcap's hat and washing the blood out of it will cause them to disappear (given their dependency on soaking it with blood to stay alive).

I encountered them twice - first time they attacked me when the hag did inside the tea house. That was not great - I was stuck in a door way and half the party couldn't get back out to attack her initially. I did survive, but with wounded. Second time I encountered them outside (I was lucky with my perception roll ) and that was OK, That time, I saw them at a distance an initiated combat (free 'surprise' as usual...) and was able to eliminate them without any problem (don't let them gang up on you) . I was lvl 4 but I didn't use height advantage/auto-backstab/weapon dip etc - really dislike those cheesy aspects and hope patch 4 addresses that.

Charge, hack, and slash won't work with them. I found two tactics at The Teahouse that worked well, both involve funneling. One, position yourselves on high ground in the house and draw them in; the door is a chokepoint. Two, kick off the battle outside the sheep are redcaps . Put your party on solid ground, attack them while they are in the swamp. They are at disadvantage and move slow. You can seriously damage or kill them before they even get to you. Teahouse is a tough one. I like to be lvl4 for that.

You know, Redcaps weigh about the same as Goblins...

*Sings* A tossin' we will goooo... A tossin' we will goooo...

Seriously, if you have Lae'zel or a Cleric in your party with at least 14 STR, toss them into each other, even better from elevation. Not only is it fun, but it does damage and forces them to come at you again, giving you time to heal, reposition your people and formulate some other countermeasure to them.

... Or you can just keep tossin' em'

LOL. Harpies are annoying to fight while the Redcaps are just brutal.

Good luck trying to toss a Redcap. They are Fey who literally can not exist without constantly murdering people. They need to keep their caps soaked in fresh blood, or else they dissapear!

Well, just think of it as me helping them soil eachother, as that's exactly what I do in the Redcaps storming the building / Hag fight. Toss them at eachother and toss them at Auntie Ethel!

On my stealth play right now with a Hunter wearing light armor and with Shadowhearts Pass without a trace spell. Just cheesed the Redcaps, too easy.
