Where illithids were Astral Plane creatures, hmm how thing changed.
The lore is still there you are just not up to date or have a lack of research.
Illithids are still from the astral plane but ever since their astral empire fell from the uprising of the Gith rebellion they went into hiding in places like the underdark. There are still some colonies of illithids in the astral plane, but they are rare as it is described in the game & lore.
As for Gith their origins are unknown as they were enslaved by illithids so long ago they don't even know their ancestral home or the original name of their race. The Fiend Folio says they used to be a race of evil humans so there is that.
If you have any books that contradict this I would not mind reading those books as a lore nerd.
I'm terms of d&d they are humanoid because they walk on two legs and have two arms. They also used to be humans per the fiend folio. The mummy part maybe from them worshiping their lich queen but the Gith themselves are just skeletal in body proportion. Also new art means we have more high grade depictions of them.
Here is the page from fiend folio.

You will never get that kind of weapon early game. Unless you are playing a melee ranger or fighter she is useful as a tank.
I was under the impression that in 5E there are no such weapons now. +5 type things were removed and the best is Legendary +3? Just curious.
Additionally, Githyanki don't have to be 'ugly', I have made a perfectly acceptable looking one in character creation and used her many times in plays and tryouts.
I do admit, the 'nude model' could use a lot more love though.
What edition could you get a +5 weapon? I was under the impression that official D&D items only went to +3 in any edition and anything more than that was homebrewed.
Apart from the fact that black hued weapons just inherently look cooler than weapons of any other color, the Black Hammer happens to be one of the very few weapons with a modifier above +5.
This particular +6 war hammer feeds on the life force of those around it.
Where to Find it: In the city of Raven's Bluff is a cult that possesses the Black Hammer. It can be difficult to find the cult since it doesn't exactly like to advertise its presence. But being able to locate them means you will reach the final resting place of the Black Hammer.
The Sword Of Kas
Kas was a former lieutenant of Vecna who was responsible for carving out his arm and eye with his sword. Any blade that can do that kind of damage to Vecna is a powerful weapon. The Sword of Kas is a +6 unholy keen vorpal longsword.
It grants a +10 modifier to its wielder.
How to Find it: The Sword of Kas was left by its owner in a gnome village that goes by the name of Osnabrolt. The sword is hidden in one of the many identical, nondescript rooms in the village. You just have to know where to dig for it.
Coat Of Arnd
This item is possibly the most powerful suit of armor that you can possess. It adds +5 to your armor class, makes you immune to critical hits and sneak attacks while taking ten points of damage off every hit, and twenty off of acid, cold, electricity, fire and sonics.
Where to Find it: The Invulnerable Coat of Arnd is part of the magical items list in the 3.5e Open Game Content sourcebook of Dungeons and Dragons. That means that the dungeon master can choose where and how the Coat of Arnd can be a part of a campaign.

I think most item's max are probably +3 as I cannot seem to find anything but super legendary items with higher stats, as I would imagine, they should be.
Vengeful Gaze Of God
This is a transmutation spell that has a BAM of 305d6 damage. Even a fortitude save only reduces the damage by half. If you can reduce the target's hit points to -10 or less, your enemy will be utterly disintegrated, leaving behind only a fine line of dust.
Where to Find it: This spell can be found in the Epic Level Handbook, which is a rule book that was created for the third edition of D&D. As the name suggests, the handbook provides optional playing rules for characters that have reached higher experience levels in the game.
Yes, its basically for free, but it makes my a$$ hang out, not that I mind the sexi part, but it doesn't cover everything like the +1 Scale Mail does.
