So vortex doesn't work anymore?

I have seen lots of people being mean to others asking about modding issues after the patch so if you're here to be mean please consider not being mean to me.

Anyways, Vortex doesn't seem to work anymore? I have searched far and wide on google and everyone seems to be having the same issues but nobody seems to know how to fix it. Something about failing to write a load order and making an in-game profile, whatever that means.

I'm going to try the thing from github to use mods but if anyone finds out how to fix vortex please let me know!

EDIT: Reverted back to the previous game version and the error went away but I'm still having troubles :/

Honestly, the best thing to do might be to wait for Larian to patch the patch, and for modders to update things on their end. I love the game, but I'm taking time off until things start working again.

They are not going to patch the game to make nexus mods work, if that's what you mean.

I hope the best of the Nexus folks can shift over their products because the current selection of mods, bar a couple, are awful. I'd just settle for Vesnelle's hairs and the basket of everything. I think they'll need to start over though, which is a crying shame.

a LOT of those who made lot/and good mods sadly already said "nope,its too annoying,I need to redo all my meshes there its not worth it" and basically stay on nexus.
Its understandable,but annoying as hell it have to be that way.For now I'm stayin on patch 6 for sure.

I'm also using Vortex and having the "Failed to write load order" error and can't even get into the game to create a profile. I've been trying to find the answer, but I am curious if anyone knows if Vortex is no longer going to be compatible with BG3 or if I just need to wait for it to be updated.

The reason why Vortex won't work anymore is because Larian changed the format of the modsetting.lsx file and it no longer contains a section devoted to load order.

It should still mostly work, and I think if you manually edit the file mentioned above - it's just an XML file - and place the mod sections in the same order as your Vortex load order, it will accomplish the same thing. At least until a new version of Vortex comes out to do that automatically. It can be found at C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public
