Patch 7 Owlbear encounter

Does the baby not eat the mom now? The cutscene wont trigger and I like to get the owlbear cub pet in camp.

I saved and am trying a lot of different ways, but the cutscene wont trigger. Anyone know what im doing wrong?

I had to kill the baby too (wouldn't de-aggro on me), I just figured I did something wrong and shrugged it off, might be a bug worth reporting!

Did it let you get the cub at the goblin camp, like maybe it's a different cub?

I haven't gone to the camp yet but that's not how it's worked for me in different playthroughs, I'm pretty sure if you kill the cub in the cave you're now cubless (and in the goblin camp chicken chasing in the goblin camp becomes actual chicken chasing instead of owlbear cub chasing).

Yup I remember this but IDK how to get the owlbear cub now. Like if I just back away then he's not at the goblin camp right? he stays with mom?

did the owl bear encounter yesterday on a new game and it went exactly as it usually does. Cub ate the mom afterwards and we left. Nothing abnormal or different about how that went between patch 7 and patch 6. (in tactician mode)

Did you have the honour mode stuff on? I suspect that has something to do with it.
Im running tactician but WITH the honour mode abilities added, so theres actually 2 owl bear adults (a 2nd companion one is summoned by the mother). I've reloaded 6-7 times and tried different dialog checks and combats - it doesn't do the cut scene at all.

FYI @A Disembodied Intel. I was able to kill both parents and then run away from combat without killing the cub. I'll let you know if that worked.

Another idea is knocking the cub out like what you have to do with Minthara.

I killed the cub's mom yesterday and the cub ran away without triggering the cutscenes, probably bc I had my non-lethal mode activated, the mom didn't not actually die therefore the cub wouldn't eat its mom, but I still got the cub chasing event nonetheless.

Are you in a particular “run” right now? I can only speak for one good run right now. (So not Durge or Origin)
Everything is as it should be. After killing the mother, the cub eats the mother and then appears in the goblin camp. However, it took a surprisingly long time for it to appear in my camp for the first time!

Just did the owlbear and it worked like it always has worked.

Same thing happened to me. I managed to get the cinematic to trigger when I killed the mother before she summoned the second owlbear.

But I guess if she summons the second owlbear you have to kill the mother last.

Not sure about honor mode but on tactical and below you don't have to fight the owlbear for the cub to end up in the goblin camp.
If you calm her down enough to let you leave, animal speech works great for this, you can leave the cave. You can then take a long rest. If you go back into the cave after a long rest goblins have killed her and taken the cub and the cub will be at the goblin camp.
You might lose some XP but there is more than enough of that in the game to hit max level.

Happened to me before Patch 7 Honour Mode. Just leave the cave and after some long rests it will appear normally (goblin camp and eventually joining).

there is a bug ...you need to kill the mate first and then the mother {in honour mode} in order for the cutscene to happen and later the cub comes to camp

I actually discovered something funny in an aborted run (lack of time, sadly). If you engage the mummy owlbear in a conversation and decide to leave the cave to better prepare for the fight... she will be dead and the goblins would have taken the owlbear. You can collect the loot afterwards.

Sorry for digressing.
