Vulkan hard-crashing for RX 580 video cards
Vulkan crashes in Patch 7 for my AMD RX 580 video card. No mods installed, reinstalled the game, tried with FSR/no FSR, switched to Patch 6 and Vulkan works alright there.

Love all the additions and endings, I would like to also play the game, so I hope there's a hotfix coming soon :steamsad:

Same here rx590, cant get past character creation before crashing. Vulkan related. Also fresh install, unmodded.

Be sure to send a bug report to Larian, I already sent one myself, Let's see if they get a hotfix out soon.

It worked just fine for me in Patch 6, I even went back to try it, to see if it was a hardware issue.
Patch 7 broke something :steamfacepalm:

Same issue, RX 580. Dx11 works but performance is terrible.

We'll just have to pray for a hotfix by the time consoles get the patch.

Hi, did the latest hotfix #26 fix the bug?

Larian is probably not going to be able to hotfix your driver/OS/hardware issue. Hard crashes are not due to gem code (user space applications). Update your OS and especially your drivers. Do some diagnostic tests on your GPU/CPU and RAM. Drives too.

Not a hardware issue. I checked.
Ran Patch 6 just fine. This is not the first time this has happened. Patch 4 also had the same crashes on Vulkan. Had to wait a couple of weeks for a hotfix.

CTDs aren't the same as a hard crash. If your system is hard crashing that is, in fact, a hardware, driver or OS issue.

Larian, could in theory, produce a patch that disables some Vulkan functionality that would relieve crashes on some systems. This would be a workaround not a fix. This is less beneficial to you than an actual fix which is likely a driver issue, but could be hardware - again assuming we're talking about an actual hard crash rather than a CTD.

Yeah. I might have phrased that wrong.

It's not a complete system shutdown. When I get halfway to the main menu, the game freezes and my display changes to "No Signal" and then to desktop. Sometimes it doesn't even go to desktop and it's stuck on "No Signal" and I have to restart my computer.

I phrased the title poorly, my apologies lol

Sometimes it's hard to tell. Thanks for the clarification. I think that still sounds like a system issue though. That "No Signal" means your GPU isn't sending a signal to the monitor (or the monitor doesn't recognize the signal as valid). This is usually due to some kind of driver crash.

No Idea what it could be.

As I said, this is an issue that is not exclusive to Patch 7. This also happened a couple of patches pass (I think Patch 4 had this issue).

Tried out the Patch 6 beta branch. And Vulkan API works just fine there. I assure you all my drives are up to date with latest Win 10 update. If I had an answer/solution, I wouldn't have made this post.

Ok guys, I assume that this error is not so much in the game as in the library VULKAN. I downloaded Vulkan Runtime Library version 1.3.290.0 from the official site and replaced the file vulkan-1.dll from the game folder from the downloaded archive (in the folder with the game is version 1.3.261. Dev Build), the game has become much more stable, if before the game could crash after the start video, or creating a character or cutscene on the game engine, now there are fewer crashes, but unfortunately the crashes remained, also from the log file disappeared one line and stopped appearing AMD driver error window. Perhaps this is just a lucky coincidence and we still need to wait for the release of patches. I also tried older versions of the library but it didn't produce the same result I got with the newest version of the library.

Perhaps off-topic but why are you using vulkan?

I got an amd gpu but never even considered using vulkan due to... well almost every game i ever heard of having some kind of issue with vulkan due to game devs not putting enough effort into making it work as well as on directX.
