Game seems to Reinstall after Updates
Every time an update comes out, most recently patch #7, the entire games seems to redownload. Last night it was 18gb, now its 105gb. Anyone else had this issue?

yeah its happened to me but idk how to stop it, if its supposed to happen, or if it just seems like the entire game is redownloading but it actually isnt?

Yeah, it still says that 148gb is on my hard drive, so its very strange.

If I were you, I'd uninstall the game. If your download of an *update* gets interrupted, it'll start over from scratch (trust me, I'm on attempt #4 here) but your download of an *install* can resume. If you're on a slow pipe, it's probably worth the precaution.

Happens only if you ignore the game update routine or lacking space for the installation.

I am having this issue right now. Came to find that I was "out of disk space" for the update (I had about 100Gb free)....now have to reinstall 142 Gb (whole game, I assume). Sucks when you have made plans with friend to play. I have never had a game do this s#it.

Nope. THat is the patching and install process. It downloads the patch rewrites all the files and reinstalls the game. The actual download is 11GB as stated.

the current patch broke a lot of things for a lot of people. and if you dont have enough free space will break and cause they game to fail to finish patching, and then it will force a re download of the game.

mods broke a lot of things. The update did not. Have not seen a single post from people actually running the game about bugs.

the game broke a lot of things. I have no mods installed but the patch broke the game for the steam deck. it wont even start on the steam deck for me. so dont say its just mods when its not.

there are several posts where parts of the game are now broke for people. and they are not using mods.

i even have a screenshot of an error where the game crashes on start.. when there are NO mods for the game installed.

The game probabally uses something like a PAK file. This is usually to both compress the game and optimize how the game is read from storage. While if done properly it can be a net positive it comes with the drawback that if say the game files are split into 10 Gb chunks and say you modify 1 mb of 8 files well now you are redownloading 80 Gb of files. I literally just had to reinstall the whole manually because I don't have 140gb of disk space reserved.
