Does Larian hate elves?
In Divinity, elves are creepy lanky creatures. In BG3, elves are just worse looking humans withe mild stats differences. What's up with that?

Edit: Yes looks can be modded in, but how the game world perceives elves (or any other race) and how they affect the world is not as easily changed.

Edit2: In Forgotten Reams and wider D&D, elves are described with words like slender, slim, graceful, dexterous, elegant, beautiful. Meanwhile in elves look either just average, or in case of male elves, they are all puffy, ugly, old horsehead faces with thick chin and wide foreheads, tiny faces or generally weird proportions. Half elves somehow have the most elf-like faces.

Obviously they are also depicted in FR as different as well

How so? How do you think FR elves look?

For maybe the third time in this thread... slender, slim, graceful, dexterous, elegant, beautiful. Not thick-chinned horsehead humans with goblin ears.
Your second sentence seems to have beamed in from some alternate universe.

The BG3 elves are more attractive than the art you posted.

There is that.

Also, the initial person who kicked off this didn't protest the female fighters. He protested the fact that all of the male characters are wimps. (I believe he called them "soyboys", which is a term my ancient GenX self is unfamiliar with, but I assume it is a modern term for wimp, possibly with less savory aspects of terms we don't use anymore, possibly implications of the word with a synonym of a bundle of sticks?)

And before anyone jumps on THAT - I like that aspect of this game - it means Larian has made the financial judgement that a larger segment of their target audience consists of people interested in roleplaying homosexual relationships (either as women playing male or female characters, men playing gay male or gay female characters, etc.) than homophobes. This is a good thing.

at one point there was a gender penalty of -1 str to all races for being a female. Gygax took it out later after rethinking the topic. I am not sure very many DM enforced the rule anyway. From memory, my group gave a +1 to character's choice stat (not str) to make it fair, which made female non-warriors much more popular. At that point in the game I am not sure drow were a thing, but likely the penalty would have been reversed for that race and a couple others as well.

Gygax himself said he wouldn't have enforced that strength rule at his own table if any player had objected, IIRC.

Maybe for human eyes.

If you will not consider him a proper Faerun elf he will persuade you with the power of his mighty chiseled chin!
