We finally get official mod support and what do I see?
Shortash. Minithara. Ashortion. Seriously, is this the limit of creativity these days?

The unofficial mods (which I can't seem to get working anymore no matter what I do or how few of them I try) had incredible creativity. Allowing other classes to learn spells from scrolls, 5e spells that weren't in the base game, custom outfits, custom weapons, the ability to CRAFT adamantine gear by upgrading lesser gear, the ability to upgrade lower rarity items to higher rarity to improve their damage.

Mods that add playable lizardfolk, satyrs, bugbears, aasimar, etc

Mods that add all kinds of subclasses and custom classes and homebrew classes.

But I look through the official mods and I see a TON of mods that...make...NPCs...short.
A ton of mods dedicated to making various NPCs into gnomes, halflings, and dwarves.

Official mods have playable genasi, and some revamps of spells, and a couple hair mods, and a flying ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of NPCs changed into gnomes, dwarves, and halflings, with a few name change mods as well, and some dice mods.

What the hell? Where's the interesting stuff? Where are the cool mods? This update didn't just break mods, it killed everything interesting about the available mods.

Not a single person who has uploaded to the official mod manager has an ounce of cleverness and I wish to god I knew how to create mods as well as the people over at Nexus Mods, cause the official mod list is in dire need of expanding with some GOOD mods.

Those first mods are quite easy to create and reuse the code for similar results. Those similar series of mods are all by the same person using the same stuff to create the same effect for something else.

The more complicated ones will take more time.

It's very common for there to be a ton of joke, test or plain useless mods when tools get released. Ultimately they often serve the point of just testing out what is possible and how the tools work.

You have the same thing in Bethesda games with useless companion mods or AI voiceover mods in the likes of Cyberpunk 2077.
Mod.Io is the most questionable choice I've ever seen.. it's limited, it's bad, modders hate it.

Just why? Why not implement Steam's Workshop?

I don't get it.

This has been explained many times.

Recap: Mod.io is cross platform and not PC/Steam only.

I'll use a mod to shorten my response for your convenience.

I'm also disappointed.

Sometimes when I'm in the grocery store and I see a product I don't want or don't like I too write out massive angry letters to the store manager to let them know just how upset I am that they DARE to sell Skim Milk.

Sometimes I also just move on with my day like a normal person.

usually, when I see a mod that doesnt fit, or that i dont want to use, or that i dont like, I pass it by for other mods.

It's less "I see mods I don't like!" and more "The officially available mods pale in comparison to the unofficial mods and the fact unofficial mods don't seem to work anymore is a big issue for players who want more than just shorter NPCs in our game"

But I learned to stop expecting any level of reading comprehension when I got involved in the 9 Days community so you're nothing new to me.

what? major patches breaking unofficial mods is nothing new. and adding support for mods means you need to give it time for the mod creators to mod. if this update had been in the game for a while, and you still had these issues, there might be a problem.

but the patch came out yesterday. isnt this a little early to be dooming?

and i hope you take the time to read what i posted this time, instead of instantly trying to find ways to oppose it. itll help you get taken seriously.

Thank you for summarising my thoughts better than I had :D

Make your own mods then. Good lord. Or better yet, don't like a mod? Move on.
Ulthar Sep 6, 2024 @ 1:38pm
all those annoying short mods were on nexus recently.

my guess is they ported over the compatible mods from nexus, and those happened to be most recent. It would be great if they add some way to permanently block mods.

i don't trust some with limited descriptions, but keep forgetting I already clicked on them and would love to permanently block them.

you are, actually. you raged at me for pointing out that you dont have to use these mods, and that you can ignore them while you look at other mods.

you got mad at me.

I think maybe people need a little time with the tools to develop the sort of mods the OP is after.

I agree.
