Question(s) about third-party mods (Nexus)
Safe to assume the majority of us use nexus for mods. I just wanna ask a few questions or others could ask questions just so me and others don't really freak out. Hopefully we could all answer any questions we may have and not freak out because right now it's unplayable for most of us (assuming).

1. Will we be still able to use Nexus instead of the BG3MM once mods update to be patch 7 compatible? Or do we have to use the official MM going forward and completely abandon Nexus and it's mods?

2. I've seen people having some sort of luck being able to play with mods with the current patch that aren't from the official MM. Do you need to install the improvedUI mod to get mods working for patch 7? Or is this something we would have to wait out till everything updates? I'm not an expert on modding. (improvedUI is updated for patch 7)

May or may not ask more questions later, these are the top questions I have so far. Anyone feel free to ask their own questions to be answered.

You can place mods directly into the mod folder and they will work- regardless of where you get them. You just have to enable them via the in game manager after putting them in the folder. I stopped using BG3MM as of yesterday.

Please note not EVERY mod will work until people update their mods to patch 7- so its gonna be a LOT of trial and error for mods not from the official mod manager.

I've gotten as far as testing cosmetics- I know Unique Tav doesn't work and neither does Eye of the Beholder- but eye colors, tattoos, makeup, hair...that stuff works. I also know a few of the mod subraces work- like Astralite's Tiefling Compendium, for example. Not every mod will need updates, it seems.
