Without further drama, we should speak clearly and call a spade a spade, this is not a patch, it is an update with mandatory reinstallation, unless it can be camouflaged with a patch if the user has 160 GB free.
and your appearance for nothing :)
You need that space free for the patching process.
Imagine yourself in a room, and this room is almost full of stuff, from the floor to the ceiling, and you need to replace the curtains in that room's window, you'll need space to move towards the window so that you can remove the old curtains, you'll also need space around the window to be able to work on it, otherwise you may not reach the hinges that hold the curtains. So you clear the space from the door to the window, so that you can reach it, and you also clear the space around the window so that you can reach the hinges, and then you replace the curtains.
This isn't a perfect analogy, obviously. But i think it's helpful to think like this when it comes to your drive (SSD or HDD it doesn't matter) If you keep it full, you will run into issues when doing anything in that drive. So you always need enough space free in there to be able to do some of the inevitable patches that the programs installed in that drive will require. My rule of thumb for my main drives is to always look at what is the biggest software or game i have installed there, and leave it at least that amount free on it. That way i can guarantee that if that game needs to be patched, it will have enough space to do all the patching without issues.
For a patch you would need two or maximum three times the size of the update because it is the hotfix installer that does the patching. otherwise it is just an indexing of what is missing and what is left over in two huge images that have to remain on the disk, that is not how works always ---- i don wanna say notting more because i love and respect larian work and i imagine they have their reasons- <3<3 know i know what i have to do clearly and thats all.
