Alfira briefly joins as a companion if you're playing Durge and have a party slot open. She still dies that night. It's a fake out, and has been explained to death by both the community and the devs themselves; it's literally in the patch notes.

How you got "new playable character" out of that is beyond me.

From the patch notes:

When playing as the Dark Urge, if you invite her, Alfira will now actually join your party as a controllable character if there's room for her in your party setup. Temporarily, of course.

Where did you see this i didnt see any new characters

Someone will make a mod that does add her permanently, as she has level up screen and she doesn't join as a summon (the smaller portrait). You just sit tight and wait.
