Steam re-downloading the whole game for patch 7

Hey there,

As the title says my steam seems to be downloading the whole game for patch 7. I have more than enough space for the required 160GB for the update. Does anybody know if I need to do something so that I can download the update and not the whole game or is it just an UI bug etc. Thanks in advance.

DL is 10.6 GB. However the patching process is interacting with 140 GB of files.

Shouldn't redownload the whole game but the patching is huge, so it takes quite a while.

No, Steam does Ctrl+c Ctrl+v on your pc so everything is copied and downloaded again. Still download is usually faster coz you have the files (in my case)

Looks like you had an issue with your install. Or at least steam thinks so.

Usually caused as a result of permission issue, rarely as a follow up due to lack of storage space.

If you had enough storage space, the game update routine would have prevented that.
