So did they fix the anisotropic filtering or...
Title. Its been broken since Patch 4 i think, which makes some beards and hairs look really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful. The only solution has been to play the game on DirectX 11 mode and force anisotropic filtering through my GPU's software, but the downside of course is that DX11 is more taxing on the CPU.

So was this fixed with patch 7?

I did read it. I'm asking because some of the points are vague (like "Fixed a few bugs").

Then check it out for yourself. Jump in, check the hair, jump out. All the time you wasted here could have been spent getting your answer.

Edit: I see you are already in the game so, got your answer?

You can fix that one yourself, by enabling Virtual Super Resolution in your AMD or NVidia software and setting the game to higher than 1080p and it'll be fixed.
You can change your resolution back to 1080p again once you've done that, and even disable the feature in the GPU software.

Yup... Still broken. After playing on DX11 with forced aniso for this entire run I've also noticed that texture quality in general looks much worse with it off (or, in this case, broken). Seriously can't believe they haven't fixed that yet, it wasn't like this on release.

Wouldn't I need to do that every time I open the game, then? Playing on DX11 with forced anisotropic is at least permanent.

Strangely enough, no. I don't know how or why that worked, but I've done that about 2 months ago and I still have everything fixed to this day on DX11, 12 AND Vulkan.

Huh, that's weird. I'll try that and see if it works, thanks.

Alright, I did it and it didn't work? At least not on Vulkan. Set my resolution to 1440p and even before switching back to 1080p, textures were still blurry and broken (very easy to see in character creator with some beards).

Hmmm... I've had the problem with fire textures and icons. Sad really, I'd hoped it would help you like it helped me. Sorry.

No problem, I'm glad for the help anyway :b . Really hope they fix this.

And about the fire textures, could it be because you're using TAA? It tends to blur the image a bit and its very noticeable with moving/animated VFX.

Sadly not, I've tried everything to fix the damn fire sprite, I even went and downloaded extra textures for them, tried every launch settings and in-game setting, and only after long googling and searching I found after months somewhere someone mentioning that what I've said fixed their fire texture and icons so I've tried it and it did help.

The way it looked for me was like the game simply loaded a 32x32 texture for the fire and a 64x64 file for the icons of the classes and went with it, after the resolution change it looked like proper HD textures.
Nothing was all that blurry like it would be the case with FXAA or other post processing stuff.
It looked like someone stretched a low resolution .jpg too much.

Edit: Even a different OS / a fresh install of windows and several re-installs with steam as admin, in compatibility mode and the same stuff for the game didn't solve it.

Damn, that's really weird, I've never had this issue. Unlucky.

A bummer if you had it'd be fixed by now. :laughing_yeti:
Have a nice day and good luck with your problem mate! Have a good one!

Have had that bug for a while now, seems to only be effecting hair however.

Sad they still have not fixed it.

I have a male character whose beard is one of his best features. So this has always been a travesty in my games since a few patches back. I also noticed a considerable visual downgrade with the version of patch 6 offered in the beta branch.

I was able to toggle something in the video settings that made it look vaguely better, but it's still so patchy like a dog with mange. This game is beautiful otherwise.
