Baldur's Gate 3

Ver estadísticas:
Benryn's already dead
Apparently you're supposed to be able to save Benryn in Waukeen's Rest. By the time I got there he was already burned to a crisp. What exactly triggers him to die?

The woman with the stolen boots was also dead by the time I got the antidote back to her - RIP. But that time, I had talked to her, then did a bunch of other quests before getting the antidote, so perhaps it was just based on amount of time or rests passed. I hadn't ever been to Waukeen's Rest before though - just close enough to trigger the waypoint and that's it.

Apparently you're supposed to be able to save the councilor too. He's also dead for me. That explains a mismatch in a conversation with one of the Flaming Fist people- her verbal dialogue and the subtitles didn't match up, with one saying that even the councilor is dead, and the other saying that only the councilor survived.

Basically as soon as you arrive they start dying. Counselor Florrick is usually fine for a little while but Benryn is trapped under a flaming log in a burning room so you have to rush to him pretty much straight away.

I have had a problem with that stolen boots - talk to her and no quest triggers. Heal her - nothing. So I've stolen the boots - and the quest appears.

The trigger feels like just loading into the zone. Most of my playthroughs I avoid the area entirely because it pisses me off how quick you have to be to save him.

Yikes- hopefully they change the trigger. Literally all I had done was walk by on my way to the Githyanki patrol.

Like a few other quests or mini-events in EA, there's an invisible timer triggered as soon you as you enter the area for the first time. You either resolve the quest right there on the spot or you'll deal with its failed state coming back later.

I should clarify. Walking by it won't trigger it if you're far enough away. I do the Gith Patrol first and usually can come back to the Burning Inn later.

When I am too close, Wyll will say something like "I hear someone shouting for help", and I feel like that means I've triggered the count down since I tend to approach from the rocks leading up to the roof. The other trigger might be the moment you bust down the doors if you approach straight on.

I didn't get any character commenting on it, and haven't busted down any doors. I think they need to make the trigger closer.

I am wondering if they decreased the allotted time to save both the Councillor and Benryn. I use to be able to use Lae'zel to break into the storage room with the wine barrel blocking the way, have her triple jump up to the next level and open the side door to the Councillor's room. Free her, have the cutscene then send the rest of the group over to the left wing of the building and free Benryn.

I have now run through these events over a half a dozen times using different strategies, and I cannot seem to save both. Even if I manage to get Benryn out from under the beams, either he bugs out and runs into the burning room and just stands in a corner (near the chest), while both rooms are completely on fire. Only once has he giving me the option to have him follow my character out, but the room is already on fire and he dies before we take more than a step.

If they did this on purpose to set up an "either/or" scenario, that is fine. I just wish I knew for sure that was what it was. LOL! Then maybe I could stop trying to save both. And it should be noted that I have tried to go for him first half of the time, and the same thing happens. Also have used Create Water but it isn't helping. Bah...guess I will let Benryn die for now. Doesn't really matter in the long run, but damn...I hate Wahkeen's Rest. XD

That's another reason why this bit is so frustrating - the fire is like an actual, live element in the game. Even after I free Benryn, the fire is still growing as I talk to him in a cutscene - one of the most unintentionally terrifying things in the game. Screen turning all red and ♥♥♥♥ as the fire begins to lap at his ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ face.

And yes, sometimes he just stands there OR runs into the fire to get out of the building instead of the doorway I broke down to get him!!! I've done the gith patrol like several times, but nothing stresses me out more than this guy!

This time around I saved him first, and then was able to save Florrick and the other guy. Dunno in which order. Honestly a miracle.

For some reason, the councilor's dead body isn't even there for me. Lol. At least we're just in early access- if this had been a full playthrough, I'd be really upset to have been cheated out of saving people just because I happened to walk slightly close to the area they're in. Now I know for next time.
