I saved Minthara and went straight to the place where Balthazar is, killed him etc, but have I missed a lot?

I saved Minthara, went straight to Balthazar, killed him, and wondered if I missed a lot. I completed all of Lae'zel's quests regarding going to her place with the egg and all that, but should I have done more before killing Balthazar? I have a save I can go back to. When I killed Balthazar, I saw a woman get killed in her house. I never saw her before, which makes me wonder if I missed a lot. I'm playing as a bad guy.

I feel I've missed a lot, but maybe I haven't?

Also, I'm concerned about food for camping—it's running out. Is there a place to buy food? I killed everyone at Emerald Grove, so I can't trade there. Can I go back there after Ketheric being taken by the tentacle? It won't let me return. Plus, Shadowheart wants me to go back to the wilderness for some alone time which I can't I don't think because I killed Balthazar.

Sorry if this is so vague, but the game is SO big it's hard to explain everything in such short words so you don't have to read a novel.

You are still good as long as you are before the point of no return in the story.

Balthazar can be killed before and within.

Uncover secrets about Ketheric Thorm and eventually Dark Urge
Saving captured refugees/Wulbren if any are still alive
Hidden Shar altar
various secrets with the hospital, cemetery, bar, mean raven

Food is in general never an issue as you will find more than enough everywhere.
If you should get in the situation where you are running low - hire hirelings from withers, three druis and have them cast the spell which give you berries. That way you can easily create more food than you use up after/for every long rest.

Even if you run out of food you can still rest.

A 10-15 seconds read like your post is no issue. One minute is fine too.

For future reference, there are some other fast travel points there. You need to explore.

I guess you have a point anything I miss can just be done on another playthrough. I'd be surprised if the game has only one ending haha

There is very little food in Act 2. There is a lot of alcohol, though, and that counts for long rest supplies.

There is even an achievement for just using Alcohol to long rest.
