Karlach's ending (spoilers)

I've seen variants of this question asked, but never found a satisfactory answer and it's absolutely infuriating!
Apparently you can get Karlach to go with Wyll at the end of the game if he becomes Blade of Avernus, thus saving her life. And yet, I got Wyll to become the Blade, and she still died anyway! What am I missing? Is there some conversation I'm supposed to initiate with her or Wyll at some point to make this ending happen for her? If so, then when, where and how??

you mean have both of them in Avernus?

I got it just by romancing Karlach and talking her into going back with me. Wyll was there too for some reason. Not sure why since he broke his pact and will be useless, I don't think the title Blade of Avernus was ever brought up.

you just need to select the correct dialogue options. there are 2 but 3 ways to save her

Turn Karlach into a mindflayer if you free Orpheous thus removing her mechanical heart
ask Wyll to go to Avernus with karlach as long as he has broken his pact
or you can go to avernus with karlach

you do NOT need to romance Karlach in order to get this option. I romanced Minthara got the last cut scene with her and accompanied Karlach into Avernus. Kinda cool as Minty was like "how have you been?" at the reunion instead of the ending just pretending I didn't leave with Karlach

you might have to look it up but you just selected the wrong option.

I'm pretty sure you just refuse to let her die (in dialogue options) and then the options will appear for Wyll or you to go to avernus

actually you know what, that was a Durge play through so maybe that was why...

There are some dialogue options in camp in Act 3 where it seems like maybe you need to convince Karlach that it would be better to go back than to die.

I assume you either didn't have enough approval rating with her, or missed the dialogue option at he end.

I maxed out my approval with her (no romance. with anyone), promised her I'd be with her when she dies (so no trying to convince her otherwise), and at the end I had the choice of letting Wyll go with her, going with her myself, or all 3 of us going.

If you romanced her, your char going to Avernus with her is the best option. It's not near as bad as you might think. And the game makes it appear promising for the future for her and your char. You both seem to be having a great time fighting devils there.

I never got a dialogue option at the end, so maybe I didn't have a high enough approval with her? I don't know. . . searching online hasn't gotten me anything useful so I guess I'll just try to see if there's some camp conversation I can have with her or Wyll in act 3 where I can get them both to go to Avernus. I really wish there was just some very clear way of doing it!

If you chat with Wyll in the epilogue it turns out that now he's no longer a warlock he shifted to being a ranger and it's working out.

I suggested it to her earlier, though she didn't sound convinced. In the end, Karlach, Wyll and tentacled myself went to Avernus.

Karlach is the perfect mark to suffer tentacleitis to ensure the player doesnt get it and can safely travel with and wooing Lae-zel and ensuring Orpheus remains whole as well. So that theres maximum trouble comming for Vlakith.

Well, in order for Wyll to go with her to Avernus,

I think you must have talked with her at least once about the possibility (though she pshaws it), and given her the two upgrades. Also, Wyll must not become Grand Duke, and instead become the Blade of Avernus.

Finally, don't make my mistake - if you fly off with Lae'Zel to join her against Vlaakith, you never get the chance to have the conversation with Karlach about Wyll going with her to Avernus (only way she'll agree to do it, if you don't go with her), AND she will die offscreen, as you've basically already flown off.
