This game allows an almost wide range of approach to resolve situations present in game. It allows players to exercise their mental faculties to overcome challenges at their own pace; exercising this mental faculties approach to situations may eventually benefit one's daily handling of one's experiences in life. Similar to practising martial applications slowly in practice; when the challenge arise, one's reactions will be honed enough to be fast and also apply maximum damage with minimum effort. Think about the benefits one can achieve; also like how Transformers toys can assist people with dementia.

Alert is neat! I do find that I usually want to get ASIs for the level 4 and 8 feat to maximize spell save DC, though. The biggest trick I use in combat is using the Druegar hireling to invis before every fight, giving you a free round of surprise in most of them.

There is so much Spell Save DC gear come Act 3, there is nearly no reason to get ASI for Lv4 and 8. Dual Wield staves at Lv4, Alert at Lv8.

Hood of the Weave +2 to Spell Attack Roll & Spell DC
Markoheshkir +1
Woe +1
Rhapsody +3 if you've killed three people.
Hate of Fire Acuity +10 cap

Ring of Mental Inhibition to reduce Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma by -1 per stack.

Absolute metric ton of Spell Save DC gear that the ASI just isn't needed at all and you got enough of it to spread across multiple casters.

There is another play through on youtube where someone does the whole game without leveling. This game is still anything but hard. Raphael battle in the House of Hope is epic with a party of level 1 characters.

That is just a example of why you can't believe every video you see as being true. They leave out or omit some things. Easily to manipulate. You can't do some fights solo. You get help from others no matter what you do.

I have watched some making such claims. You can see how they have omitted some things. At level one? Na. No way. Not without some exploits or down right cheating. Many bosses will one shot your chars at only level one. Hell, a lot of non boss npc's will.

But of course, that is up to you if you want to believe them. I choose not to. And also, I have not tried playing the game on Explorer. So not sure how much easier it is.
I suggest watching the playthrough before making a comment like this. You will realise its just a very deep understanding of the mechanics of the game e.g. manipulating the surprise and disengage mechanic as well as things like scroll banking. It's actually very informative. I have hundreds of hours in the game but was amazed at all the things I had missed

That post history, though. This seems to be a common theme for the OP.

The thread gets a new, more appropriate context when all things are considered.

That's not the only video claiming such I have watched. If you want to believe it, then that's up to you. I watched part of it and Na. There is no way. It is very easy for the author to omit some clear cheats he does not reveal.

Kind of like the numerous videos of Bigfoot and Ghosts. And thus is the reason why such claiming to be evidence, is not really evidence at all. Too easy to fake them.

But of course, believing in such is a matter of how skeptical one is. With some things, I am very skeptical about some nonsense claims people make.
seems like a skill issue to me
It's definitely overhyped. an average game at best. tho I do not completely agree with you

you do know that you cant change difficulty once you start honour mode? If you see the endgame fights and they are honour mode fights (they are different to tactician) then the player has to have made it all the way there. There is no other way to get there.
Bedsides that you can go on twitch and watch these people do it live in front of your eyes

Roland is dead on my file. Aylin is there. I'm doing the fight after telling her Lorroakan is looking for her
It's the elementals that are ruining me. They go before anyone else, and can reliably kill Gale and my warlock in 1 round, which leave nobody to counterspell/backlash

Can you just leave the squishy characters on the first floor out of combat, then have them take the portal in to join once the enemy's first round of stuff is done? Or have them down an invis potion before the fight? I don't think you need to have your main character talk to Lorrokan, you can just have Lae'zel do it.

Depending on your cheese tolerance, you can go to camp and use an extra companion or hireling to cast a 5th-level Aid on everyone to grant +20 max HP. Once you hit 11, they can also use Hero's Feast to really make your max hp crazy and remove pretty much all first-round deaths.
Having the party members stay outside might work, I'll give it a shot on my next attempt
The invis wouldn't cut it, since they're getting hit by a AoE, and everyone starts the fight grouped around the portal. For some reason the game loves putting Gale at the front of the party whenever a cutscene ends.

What he alluding to is people using mods when the recording stops, when the camera is turned off.

Hmm. Sounds like they are too "squishy". If the problem is that you are getting killed before you can get a chance to do anything, you could try elixirs of vigilance. Since you said it is AOE that is killing them, my guess is that they have low DEX and are not making their saves. Try giving them items that raise DEX or improve saves.

Or like someone else said, hold them back from the portal until the fight starts.

Or level up first. Plenty of ways to get to level 11 or 12 in Act 3.

I dont believe you.
I was actually in the same boat up until yesterday. I found a really good combat guide here on Steam. Once I read through it and realized what I was doing wrong, and I was doing A LOT wrong, I came back and......still got my butt kicked. Then I turned down the difficulty and turned off the Karmic Dice. Now I effing love the game.

I plan on keeping at the Explorer difficulty for the whole playthrough and when I complete the story I'll make a new character and replay it at a harder difficulty. By then I should have a better grasp on combat which is where I really struggle with BG3.

I'm about halfway through Act 2, and honestly this game is pretty overrated so far. DoS2 was more enjoyable for me.
