Chat in Baldur's Gate 3?

Has Larian said anything about adding a CHAT function to the game? Instead of making their players talk by steam chat or discord for those who can't use a mic for whatever reason?

Not gonna happen because than they need to moderate chat. If you're waiting for that it is in vain.

This is pretty stupid tbh, to moderate chat is very easy to just blacklist words, a lot of games of this style do it, i see the "no chat" as a very backward thing, some people can't speak or is unable to, they just make it more difficult for them.

It is not as easy as you imagine. Otherwise it would not be a problem.

The main problem if I remember is that the rules they would have to enforce are set not by where its being played but by where the company is based out of and Europe at least I think has really strict standards that it makes companies not add chat to games based out of that area case in point they removed chat in total war warhammer 3 after a new law made it hard to keep to the standards or at least thats what ive heard about it

Don’t people just use free Discord to,play games together? Why would I want an in-game,e feature. It seems like a waste of time.

Nope as a Belgian company a simple blacklist is not sufficient to protect them legally. They did do chat in older titles but no longer given the changed legal landscape.

Nah, this doesn't need to be a thing in the game. Just use steam messenger or discord text or a plethora of other text apps if you don't have a mic. Easy fix.

Maybe use steam chat, as we do in multiplayer, or Dircord, or Teams chat, or google chat. The world is full of chat programs that are better than any build in chat could be! hen the game development ends. So would chat system. When you use real chat program, they continue to develop it!

They made hotseat. Play with your friends and have a drink with them while playing, avoid long distance multi.

Didn't Divinity also have a chat? I really hope Baldur's Gate gets a chat, also for accessibility for mute or deaf players.

It had that. But that is more a reason to not have it, considering how badly it worked.

Funny, when the friends im playing with are in another country... didn't they consider that not all people "hotseat"?
