Probably wont ever happen, people like controlling level ups more, and it pretty much auto levels you anyways, click it and it stays on their original class... and you see the bonuses they get with out you doing much ... maybe selecting a feat every 4 levels or a new spell... put it on Explorer Mode so you don't have to worry about any of your level up choices ... not wanting to think about it cause of all the options and what not can be pretty overwhelming for some players I suppose.

It's not something that is needed. It does not take but a few seconds to decide what you want when you make level anyway.

And, pray tell, how shall the game know what Feat the player wants or which spells the player might want to choose?

If there are no choices then it's just a simple click anyway, but at least the player gets the information what (/if) class or race ability gets automatically added (though reading is required, so I wager that a good portion ignores that information anyway, but it's there).

Yes, it does suck, when you pick up a new companion, like Halsin, Jaheira, Minthara, or Minsk and they have to start from level 1. But take into account, that you'd level them up manually either way, just like you do, when your active party goes level up, you go through each member manually, bring them to the next level and select their subclass, another class if multiclassing, select new spells, or exchange learned spells for new ones. You do that stuff at each level anyway, you just do it in close succession with characters, that gain more levels at once. No big deal.

I can see why you might like it, but I have yet to see a cRPG with an auto-level function that didn't make a bunch of extremely poor decisions. I just plain don't trust them.

A feature I'd never use. BTW, in many cases if they have a "unchangeable" default subclass, I'm sometimes dragging them to Withers for a respec, anyway. I LIKE that Jaheira etc. aren't handed to you "premade" for the level you find them at but you make the level-from-1 decisions.

A mod that does some handholding, i.e. actually makes suggestions on what to pick at level up (WotR had suggestions), I wouldn't use it but that could get some interest. especially for "noobs". Thing is, I know of nobody who's written it.

And even if they could, it would probably only make suggestions among existing spells and feats, and have no recommendations for mod expansions of either.

I will say in the PF1E labyrinth of complexity for WotR, the fact that it made suggestions was welcome. Between that and all the information at the Fextralife Wiki (but boo to all those pop-ups), it actually made levelling up characters bearable.

Any system which makes decision for you will ultimately kill what this game is about.

Just move on and ignore this title. Or play the game the way it was supposed to be played.

Why do I feel like you're the kind of shopper who stands in the aisle staring at the cereal for 20 minutes because you don't know which one you want.

There really aren't all that many options to warrant such a feature, tbh. The recommended ability scores for each class is basically all that's needed, and 90% of your performance afterward is determined by what you choose to do after initiative is rolled.
