Party Limit Begone for first time playthrough?
I played this game last year til act 1 and then I got busy with life so I never finished the game. I'm back to playing it and started a new character and game and I'm wondering if I should use the Party Limit Begone mod? I don't really care if I steamroll combat but since I just want the most story experience.

What do you all think?

If it is just for the story, go ahead. You can even use it with multiple origin avatars for the maximum of story.
I would imagine even though in your party they wouldn't all participate? May wanna read up on the mod. Often times games have limitations in place coded in so even if you mod in 8 characters for example all 8 won't participate like they are the first 4, idk if that's true for bG3.

Also if you wanna enjoy the story of someone you can play them for a different experince of their story and sorta RP how they would handle it more or less lol its a good way to get a different perspective on their story.

What i am wondering for this mod is.

Do the companions beyond 4 provide world banter or dialogue voices/Get approval? Or are they just ”there” as if they were hirellings

Well this thread here

Mentions how there was is so much missed dialoge with only 4, so 1 assumes the banter is still going on based on that. But the banter might happen the appearance in full cutscenea may not. Hard to say without testing it, I Imagine you'll know pretty quick lol

They get recognised as being correctly there for the cutscenes. It can create mishaps when you unteam them, though. But you have to do that only a few times at the correct scenes.

In many key game cutscenes, you will only see 4 of your chars. Even if your party is 6 or 8. Things are hard coded that way. But, no, if you have 5 origins with you (no hirelings), they all have interactivity with you and each other, you'll see all possible banters, reactions to situations, etc. Nothing changes how they act and interact if you have more than 3.

BTW: I know this balance discussions is perennial, but there is a mod that actually lets you choose 4 party members to enter combat if you have a larger party, and the others actually stand back and don't participate. So, you get the interactive benefits of a larger party, but combat will still be balanced for 4.

One thing about PLA: it has a spell to trim down your party to 4. It pretty much forces you to do it before LRing. For good reason, that can bug out. It also warns you to use it before getting on the boat to Grymforge. Should listen, game WILL bug out if you don't.

On one final point, it's your game, do what you wanna; I really hate telling other players what they should do; my philosophical view isn't to use mods until a 2nd playthrough because I want to know the vanilla experience first. That said, again, do what you want.
