There's plenty fire spells in the game, but not really any subclasses built around fire.
There's Way of the Four Elements Monk, but it has abilities across three elements (which is kinda weird they left earth out...), and Evocation Wizards that can deal good dmg with fire based spells, but they aren't built around it. Same goes for Sorcerers, who get a subclass built around thunder/lightning/cold dmg instead.
Light Clerics and Fiendlocks come pretty close.
In any case, Wildfire Druids are my favorite Druid subclass, at least there's a mod that adds them...
Yes, exactly...
Spiders are pretty cool for Lolth-sworn Drow Rangers (wish they had black widows though), but otherwise yeah...
Even when it's in its "true" form, the Drakewarden's dragon (at max size/power), is still smaller than dragons in the game like Ansur or the Red Dragon at the end, who if you've noticed, are pretty much limited to moving to another spot and back. It's at least somewhat more mobile than enemy dragons. But in its real form, it still can't enter most buildings or rooms. You gotta keep it outdoors.
The Drakewarden ALSO has a smaller mini-drake "familiar". Not as ferocious as his dragon, it's the Godzookie to Godzillia, but that can pretty much go with him everywhere in its native form.
I think the game - heck 5E - lacks "firebarian" or fiery themed barbarian options for Karlach, other than maybe (fire) Storm Herald, but this is why I like the new homebrew subclasses of Rage of the Pit and Hellcleaver. It's all about fiery rage, which really fits her. Also, of course, maybe a bit of Infernal Rage from some dipping into Infernal Bloodline Bloodrager.
JMHO: I would love if they did Cavalier and added mounts & mounted combat for it; but I don't think they will, maybe with this engine they even can't.
There's a custom hirelings mod right now at mod.io. (Yes, I know about Full Custom Companions at Nexus; it requires SE so I can't use it). It's very much a WIP and extremely buggy. But I managed to mostly "tame" it by Act 3. LOL. After some trial and error, I did what I wanted to see if I could do - create 5 custom hirelings with 5 custom mod races, and I was successful. Boom - there's your all custom party of six.
Now my next struggle is deciding which of the THREE DIFFERENT Alchemist class mods at mod.io to use. They all have plusses and minuses. Sigh.
The Cavalier has plenty to offer without mounts.
Maxing out Dex/Int/Wis (I figured out how to just barely do this with gear) for a naked AC of 25 (before Ring/Cloak of Protection or Mirror Image).
No concentration spells so I can Blink in and out of combat.
