If an online connection is required, you should always assume that you'd need PS+ by default. But doesn't apply to every game but it is rather rare.

Besides, crossplay isn't even a thing yet.

The answer is yes because playing BG3 on multiplayer on the PS5 does require PS+.

There's also Destiny 1 and 2, which can be played in it's entirety without PS+ but if you want to do raids, you're gonna have to have PS+. Unsure about PVP, though but probably as well.
