Party Size of 4 - Really, what were they thinking?
I'm personally happy I bit the bullet before finishing the game and got the party extender mod and my god, that should've been part of base game. Having a party of 4, while balanced, isn't canonically fun. You're telling me that a good portion of the time while we're out saving ourselves, or the world that party members would just be "chillin" at base. The amount of dialogue you miss out on is disgusting to the point where it's the point where combat be damned, I want a good story. You can easily just turn up to Tactician and do flavor builds instead of min-maxing.

To me, this is how the game was truly meant to be played. If only they had something that allowed either scaling or increase to enemies based on party size.

In the end, this is just for a people that are having a hard time making it through the game and questioning whether you should get the mod so you can experience more of the game. The answer is yes, go do it and save yourself the frustration of who to bring with because in my mind, canonically, they'd go as a group and it's immersion breaking when they aren't.

They were thinking that's what they balanced the game around and that's a pretty typical party size for modern party based RPGs.

4 is very standard for tabletop D&D and allow for a good party combination. More than 4 starts to get both much harder to balance for the DM (or game designer) and drags the combats for too long IMO.

Our most tabletop RPG sesseion are tree to four players. Also most computer RPGs are around 4. So it is in the sweet spot!

I never felt an issue with a party of 4. Go to the tower in the city with Gale, to the palace with Astarion, to the House of Grief with Shadowheart and explore the city with Jaheira because that's basically their quests. Having a party of more than 4 means for me, I'm too lazy because I might need a mage, a thief, etc, and it is just to be sure I will have one if I need one (and most of the time you don't).

dnd as turn base action economy is biggest part that contribute how the power scale.

the more character the party got, the scale toward the player will tip so much more. 4 characters is ideal party size or the game will have no challenge even in honor mode

Four is really enough, only the enemy group could be a bit reduced, mostly because some spawn minions too. In one place I could get a drink before the enemies were done with their movements and attacks. But to manage more than four characters, with spells and attacks, would drain me personally and drop the game. The size is perfect to keep the combat interesting enough, although I personally dislike how the RNG of the combat is mostly benefiting the enemy. Combat in general is a bit funky

4-5 party members is considered to be the ideal standard size, and has been for a very long time.

don't know when it changed... it was 6 for eons, then suddenly, it was 4. I would have preferred 6... you can always not take people, but with a low limit, you can't add more without hacking on the game. 6 felt right back in the day .. 2 warrior types, a cleric and a mage of some flavor, a rogue, and one more floating. But with rogues being pointless, maybe that makeup is no good anymore.

Balancing and multiplayer. Think about that.

"Missing" dialogue just play through again cos everyone will I'm sure, and take the other characters

A single turn of combat already can take quite a while to play out, with your four party members, any summons, and all the enemies. Not sure I really want the combat to be any slower, which it would have to be if they balanced it for a larger party size.

No. I'm going to reject that opinion. This game is easily 70 hours. I'm not going to keep replaying it to get the "full" experience. To be honest, having 6 members has been the most fulfilling experience thus far.

I understand that "balance" but the story in this type of game is far more important, plus, once again, nearly 6 characters just chillin' in your base while the world is crumbling is dumb. It isn't believable at all and totally breaks my immersion of this game.

It's fine everyone thinks balance is the most important thing but this is just coming from a person that values a complete experience more than. "Oh man, the balance though, in the game is super balanced around 4 players plus oh man, replayability!"

Not sure if anyone noticed but game is long. If it was short cool, but this game is incredibly long. There are a LOT of characters. If everyone is vouching for 4 players max, they should've removed two - three characters.

Can i ask something I just back to play this game after a long time. I used to play Party limit begone mod on other save and now I delete that save file and mod file completely clean. But now I back to my first save file that i start without mod it appear that I can have party member more than 4. Is this a bug or update? Is this will be a problem to my save file? what about achievement, did it turn off?
