And it seems they did not fix Tavern Brawler not working in Honour mode in Patch 8, so wild shape is still way behind any martial build.
New companion, new class, new subclasses. 12 Subclasses will definitely suffice.
Hope author will fix that. In the meantime, thanks Larian. Somebody's implementation should. (To be clear, the main problem is without Community Library, which requires script extender, it over-writes other subclass mods you have and prevents you from choosing. The other issue I think I saw with it is some problems with the animations. I disabled it once I noticed both things.)
This is is too bad, because in earlier days, I did try out the Nexus version of Circle of Stars, and kinda liked it. Of course, same deal, it and Circle of Stormchasers (my other fave) wouldn't "cohabit" without Community Library/Compatibility Framework (which require SE).
At the moment, I'm only using Circle of the Sea, which seems 90% similar to Circle of Stormchasers. I like both because I hate the "pick your biome, pick your pre-selected spells" level up process for Circle of the Land, Jaheira's default. It's silly as a lot of Circle of Land spells are ones you would get as a druid ANYWAY.
New subclasses, however, weren't on anyone's bingo card. Especially after official modding support. Only thing missing now is a dwarven companion with a scottish accent.
The Marksman mod subclass can give you a very boring archer focus. But come on, personally I love Larian's trick arrows, and I want MORE of the SAME (funky magical arrows), and the Arcane Archer brings it. However, so apparently does the new Blood Archer, and the improved "Ancient" Arcane Archer. "Ancient" gets a Fireball and Disintegration Arrow as trick shots. Nuff said. I think I will continue using "Ancient" over the Larian version, but maybe I'll wait until I see it. Blood Archer also seems a bit buggy, but then so was "Ancient" AA until its author fixed its bugs.
The only other one I'll mention is the Veilyn Bloodletter Mod at Nexus, believe it was made with "Moonglasses". He's a truly from the ground up, newly made custom companion, a drow warlock. Very much a "WIP" but they are going to make him a romanceable companion and have his own personal quests. At the moment, he's unvoiced, but they're looking for some way to make him voiced. I think he already has some cutscenes. There definitely is custom dialogue.
I can't try it out, alas, but it looks it could be cool, especially when finished, and I hope eventually they can also address platform compatibility issues.
Sadly unless its vastly improved from table top 5e it sucks because the arcane shot options there are very limited in how many you get per day and the variety of them is very small.
The ancient arcane archer mod adds one that is much closer to the 3e version of the class and works quite well though.
If you want to try out a magic archer during the holidays I would suggest that one.
As for what they are adding my bet is these were things they were working on for the expansion before it got canceled.
Either way its very nice of Larian to add them.
Druid actually pairs rather well with several classes for level dipping.
If you are playing it as a caster it pairs very well with cleric as heavy armor makes it very tanky and it gets a few spells druid doesn't normally get.
If you are playing mainly in animal form a single level dip in monk can make them more tanky as well as you count as unarmed and keep your wisdom in animal form (can add 4-5AC by end game).
Likewise starting out with a single level dip in rogue can cause a few forms to do more damage and give you more choice for skill proficiency as well as expertise.
Druid in game, especially animal form focused druids don't really get that much after level 10 worth staying for.
So the rogue + monk dip is decently good.
Sadly there are 2 things table top has that druid in game doesn't.
1: Gear in table top keeps its function when you are in animal form.
2: Animal form druids can smite in table top if multi classed with paladin.
If someone could figure out how to make those work in game druid would be an absolute powerhouse.
BTW there is a mod for tavern brawler that fixes it.
There is also one that copies the effect but has it work for dex for the monks out there.
Didn't know they could do that in the table top ruleset. That would make the Druid really good.
Ya the way the rules are written in table top when you shape shift your gear still exists it just becomes part of your new form.
So you really wouldn't benefit from weapons since you are not using them (though an argument could be made that some animals like a Gorilla could use a club) but other things with static enchantments are still supposed to have effect.
And smite is an innate ability so even when transformed its still doable since you still have your spell slots.
