So where's that citation?
Not necessarily—immersion doesn’t mean everyone is straight. Certain characters could naturally be written as non-straight, in a way so that diverse relationships actually fit their personalities and lore. This way, relationships would feel "earned", rather than just toggled to suit all paths.
I don't know; that's exactly why I was asking if you've tried it yourself!
Funny how people like this make it their one personality trait.
NPCs in real life. He'd be a tutorial enemy.
If something is not the norm, then why should the majority accept it without criticism?
Looks like I'm not the one who's got offended, lol.
See the problem with the anti-woke cultists starts, when someone asks for the best mods and people bring in something like "no alphabets" as the "best mod". Then it quickly take off into different spheres and planes of existence just because of that.
It’s actually a solid set of mods, right up there with Faces of Faerun and All Deities. Turning that grating Dame Aylin character into a much more likable Ser Aylin is a nice touch... I’d say give it a go and see for yourself.
Not to mention, its usually the leftwing zealots taking this topic to new extremes, as, hopefully, you might have seen by yourself, often by attacking the freedom to mod single-player games.
In reality, mods like these are -per se- just tailoring gameplay for a more enjoyable experience, nothing more. Fanatics that tend to hijack them excluding.
Solid set of mods doesn't make it the best though.
If someone is asking for the best mods for a game (granted it's a tricky question in itself as pointed out), then recommending something, that is decent at best, without saying it's decent, is kinda bullcrap in my opinion. Calling stuff by the right names, saying that "I think this is pretty decent" when recommending stuff, I pretty much doubt it would kill anyone. But just blatantly recommend it as "the best option you can go with" is just ridiculous.
You for example make a good cause, you don't raise the mod to celestial heights, just saying "it's a solid set of mods" is fine in my book. It is, what it is. Plain simple.
Dame Ayilin might be whatever, I mean I don't really like her myself, but more for her fiery personality, her almost fanatical hate of Ketheric (which is justified as it was him, who captured her for Shar and imprisoned her in the first place), still she's kinda cringeful at least. But genderbending her into Ser Aylin? Just because she's in a same sex relationship with Isobel? She's the daughter of the goddess Selune, how does it work for that conversion. Don't tell me the goddess got a son now. Because Selune and Shar are two sisters centered heavilly around womankind. Most of their devote followers are women, because those two simply like it that way (yes, Ketheric used to worship both at some points, but there's still more female worshippers for a reason, there's also a reason, why Shar has a mother superior and not a patriarch type figure as a head of her church). Dame Ayilin being the most devote follower of her mother, just because she's her daughter is a solid part of who she is. Changing that doesn't feel good. Yes, she's quite annoying at times, but that's part of her character, not because she's a woman, and certainly not because she sleeps with a woman. There really is nothing the mod should change about her. So if it does, it's quite easy to judge it as being "against the lore", or "anti-woke" or anything of that sort.
While I also usually hesitate with genderswapping mods, the change with Dame Aylin to Ser Aylin felt surprisingly natural to me, especially given Aylin's intense character and the complex lore around Selune and Shar. That devotion and fire became even more intriguing with the switch, adding a refreshing dynamic to Aylins interactions and relationships, including the one with Isobel.
It felt organic and refreshing, rather than just another DEI checkbox.
Even though it shifts teh 'daughter of Selune' aspect, the mod preserves Aylins core traits and fierce loyalty, now with a new angle that feels, in my opinion, even more fitting and natural. It still fits the theme of zealous followers dedicated to the goddesses, just with a different take.
If youre curious, Id recommend giving the mod a shot: you might find it adds unexpected depth to the story without diminishing Aylins character at all.
No, it doesn't.
Doesn’t…what, exactly? Have defined preferences? Detract from immersion? You’re gonna need to finish that thought, bud.
