For a second playthrough, evil dark urge or redemption ?
I am not someone who replays games like this 200 times and has 10000 hours in it, but I have nothing to play until Monster Hunter Wilds and I am in the mood for BG3.
My first playthrough was just a "normal" hero, nothing special etc. just the good old hero route.
Now I really wanna test Dark Urge with some oathbreaker kinder builds etc.
And I was wondering because I will maybe never replay it a third time or only in like 10 years, whats more worth for the second replay ? full on evil dark urge because its different or redemption one ? I am just a little bit scared that redepmtion one is too similar to my first good boy playthrough.
So what would you say ? I don't wanna play too much like my first playthrough but I am also too scared that the evil one gets boring because everyone is dead or something like that.
Or can you do a mix of being like evil and killing alot of people and still get your redemption ? maybe without spoiler, like I really don't wanna help the elven camp in act 1 again so I can get different companions but I was wondering if I can still be the "good" dark urge when doing stuff like that ?

You can do some mixing. There is a point when you decide for sure to be redeemed or be Baal's clear Chosen. I won't spoil for you.

Myself, I have did 3 Redemptive Dark Urges play runs and I resisted the Dark Urge whenever I had that choice. It's how I want to play one. But each to their own path.

You can embrace your dark urge and hide it from your companions, or even just ignore them, get rid of them, whatever, thus playing a "good guy", but still doing questionable, or outright evil things.
Also I'm not really sure if going the goblin route is really an evil thing. Sure you are supposed to save the druids and thieflings, but consider that you're eventually gonna infiltrate the cult of the Absolute, the goblin camp can give you a head start in that regard. Some deaths may be necessary for the "greater good". Or whatever justification you make.

Larian designed dark urge to be fitting better on your protagonist. You will resist your urge and fight absolute at the same time to be even a greater hero. But if you think about choosing it in your next playthrough and if you have the stomach of course İ highly recommend to fully embrace it. İt will be a very grim but interesting experience.

If you playing evil as a murder hobo then yeah less ppl alive means less story/quest etc. Instead why dont you try playing as smart/manipulative evil person that only kill once the person have nothing of value to you. Turn ppl to the dark side, gaslight ppl, betray ppl once they trust you etc. Dark Urge have alot of that option.

I have done both an embrace and resist durge run. Maybe it's just my interpretation, but I feel like the embrace is [it]the intended way[/i] to play initially. There's a few reasons for this that I can't say without spoiling.

Now of the two, I personally find resist far more rewarding; especially if you have good relations with your party and a romance at the time (make SURE to have a romance character or you'll miss out on one of the best moments in the game imo). The resist will really hit emotionally, and it just feels so rewarding.

The embrace is cool, especially at the end, but I felt I had a much more rewarding experience doing embrace. If you're only going to do one, go with the resist durge. You'll miss out on a lot more if you don't.

That said, I WOULD recommend doing an embrace at some point, because it is cool to see. But Resist feels so much better, hits so much better, and feels more impactful to the game overall.
