BG3 MULTIPLAYER ISSUES

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to connect with my gf on bg3 and play a multiplayer run together. We have started and managed to play with no issues on rare occasions.

90% of the time, I start the game and invite her through multiplayer, she joins and then gets booted out of the game back to the main menu before she can get past the loading screen. We are in the same house on the same wifi so we've tried via LAN, direct connect, all of it. We've tried unfriending on steam and then joining and that has failed. Nothing has worked.

If anyone's having / had the same issue and managed to find a solution, please let me know.

Any of you running mods?

If you both running mods, make sure they in the same exact load order, and run the same version of the mods; if you don't run mods, but one of you guys used in past, make sure you fully cleaned any mod leftover.

No, neither of us are using / have used mods in the past. Really frustrating.

To improve LAN play compatibility make sure both PC's are on the same Windows Workgroup. By default when Windows is installed it assigns "workgroup" name for workgroups. In my many years of LAN play this default name Windows assigns is a hit or miss for gaming so I always assign a custom workgroup name "home" as my workgroup for all my PC's.

try launching the game without steam, close steam completely, then launch the game with the larian studios launcher, you'll have to use direct connection for her to join.
