Rescue Moonrise hostages... (THERE WILL BE SPOILERS)
This is my 5th run-thru, and I've never been able to rescue the Ironhand gnomes or the few Tieflings that were taken to Moonrise Towers. I've always found them dead in that pit. Is there a way to do it?? Do I need to keep my True Soul "cover" longer? Or does it involve infiltrating MT via the water route from the Last Light Inn? Any help or walkthrus are welcome. Thanx!!

They should be alive until such a time that you visit the Shadowfell to find Nightsong.

I'm not aware of other ways of them dying before you get there.

you can get to the back of the cells, if you enter the prison and go past the wardens room there is a ledge you can jump up too. it leads to the back and you will see a dock with a boat. just follow the path and smash the walls to release the tieflings in the far cell, the gnomes are in the cell closer to the dock. i always do it right after releasing minthara

Rescue them before you enter the Shadowfell as mentioned above. You can rescue them and also Minthara ( if you knocked her out at the Goblin Camp ) and still not blow your cover.

It´s incredibly easy to safe them all though you have to do it BEFORE freeing the nightsong in the temple of shar otherwise they´ll always be dead by the time you reach the tower.

So once you enter the prison area of moonrise tower look for that glowing hole in the ground where a monster sound comes out from and jump into it with feather fall.

Once at the bottom just follow the path which will lead you behind the prison cells and there you can just destroy the walls with eldrich blast or whatever you like and the tieflings as well as the gnomes can escape to the boat.

All you have to do then is kill three guards that spawn to stop the prisoners from escaping but noone else in the tower will be alerted by this.

Edit: Forgot to mention there are also some tadpole specimen to grab in this sewer like area.

If you're looking for the ultimate way to rescue them, I have 2 words.

Minor Illusion.

There's 2 guards and 2 eyes you need to take out. You can lure the stationary guard to the edge of the chasm via Minor illusion and shove him in without alerting anyone else.

Then do the same to the patrolling guard when the eyes aren't around, and lastly just one shot the eyes.

You could also murder the Warden for her loot, I recommend.

Then just toss Wulbren a hammer and they will "sneak" out.

Don't even need to aggro the whole cell block to do it that way.

The eyes are immune to all damage except Thunder. At least on Tactician setting.

There's even a nice bit of broken bridge right next to the stationary guard to hint at this.

Nah,

They're only immune to Poison and Psychic, AFAIK.

They're RESISTANT to most everything else, vulnerable to thunder.

But, and it's a big one, they take normal damage from the best damage type there is. Force.

lol. Na. There are different ways to do it. The main objective is to do it in a way the rescue is successful and just the few guards are the only ones alerted at Moonrise Towers.

They always resist any attack I make on them, except Thunder. No matter how many times I try to take them out, I get a big fat 0 damage every time. Thunder kills them in one shot. Always.

Naw man, on Tactician they just have an extra ability that lowers all incoming damage by 8, meaning that you would have to deal a lot of damage from a single hit to overcome it.

Thunder from Shatter is the best chance, but any Force damage above 8 will deal damage too.

Or just treat them like you wish you could treat the guards, throw them in the chasm.

So, should I get to the prison via the Moonrise front door, or take the water route from Last Light?

Front door is fine.

If you've not been to Shadowfell, every prisoner should be alive.

It does not matter. Just be quick about it getting to there soon
