The evelyn hype makes no sense

Am I coping or??? Why is a CC going viral that is just normal? Like its a cool character but I feel like with mods I can and have made characters 10x cooler i dont get why “evelyn” is so viral

For those of you who dont know, someones modded Tav went viral under the name of Evelyn, its like some goth paladin character and its all over tiktok etc with thirst traps.

Ive never seen someones custom character go viral in a game like this before. I have people who dont play the game asking me about Evelyn thinking shes a real character and asking if shes a romance option, its insane.

Going viral is not the same now as it was in the early 2000's. Social media algorithms are very good now at serving up content that is going to get you to engage with it, and what is viral for one narrow slice of the population will never be seen by the rest.

That is to say, you're seeing whatever it is you're seeing all over the place because you interact with it. Even if it's just stopping to watch a video or part of a video, or opening the comments to look what people are saying, that tracks as engagement and you will continue to get that content.
