No one can give an intelligent answer without those specs!
Did you create a backup of the game?
To get a true assessment of your game state, you should delete (uninstall) ALL mods and saves.
I didn't create a backup.
I don't care about the save, so long as I can fix the slowness issues, and eventually restart with all my mods. Is there a way to save my mods, just "hide" them for a bit? Could I rename the folder of the mod thing?

This time, I tried with the not- DirectX loader, as I read online that the devs suggest it. It was still slow, but not immediately. It was full speed while the Shaders were loading, but about when the loading hit 100% after it started slowing and never got better.
Next, I'll load into other games and test those.
Elden Ring is slower than it was last week, and it wasn't too fast befroe. Not really playable.
Sunless Skies was fine.
Spiderman was fine.
Divinity Original Sin 2 was fine.
Nobody Wants to Die was the slowest of all. I sadly won't be playing that until/if this is resolved.
FTL: Faster then Light is fine.
Wildmieder was slow.
Horizon Zero Dawn was slow.
Howwarts Legacy was slow, unplayable cause the controls are still normal speed,
Starfield seems fine. I didn't see in gameplay, but the menu was fine at least.
The Hitman trillogy game, a bit slow. I could maybe play it, but it wouldn't be fun, and even if that wasn't an issue, I still have a crashing issue that's unrealted.
I'm thinking about posting about this on Reddit. Any suggestions of a subreddit good for this issue, where mutiple games are having slowness, but not all, and I'm not sure what they have in common.
Also, I did a performance test program I found: https://www.passmark.com/baselines/V11/display.php?id=215112021525
You may have an overheating problem.
PSU may not be beefy enough to deliver all the power to the components that they require (namely the GPU), lack of proper power will cause it to run slow, and overheat.
Check drivers, i use : https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html
I've only had this computer 1 year and 4 months now, it shouldn't be having issues like this yet?
I don't normally have issues with overheating, except once:
For that Hitman game via Epic.
There is a fan project to preserve the online services, for after any servers are shutdown in the future, and some other future proofing like some mods. It's called Project Peacock.
I wanted to use Peacock, as with the mods, it sounded better than the official at the time.
Way back in late Feb. I set it up, and planed to play it over the weekend, starting Fri.
I had a Twitch stream on in the BG, and loaded up the server program and game. I was playing for a shot bit, when the fans started whirling up, more than I ever recall hearing.
I closed the game, but the fans didn't change. I sat there thinking if maybe I should turn it off, and around then it shut down on it's own.
I waited a little, rebooted, and just watched Youtube the rest of the night, or something like that.
Next day, I started it up, and the menu on the bottom was missing. I could only use mouse and hotkeys to do things, but I got Microsoft Tech support to help, over the next several hours we troubleshooted what it might be, while I worked from home that day.
Nothing worked, so in the end we installed Windows 11, and it was fixed, though I needed to redo some programs to "attach" the files to the programs, as it was sorta like a new computer, but most stuff in... I think a different partition. Took a while to setup, but I'm back to how I was before, and I haven't played that game since, moreso because though I stopped using Peacock, before that I had a crashing issue, that I recall was/is a pain to fix, so I just have been playing other games since.
Outside of that though, I've never had an issue with overheating, or slowness because of it.
If that Is the issue, what should I do to resolve that? Look into a new PSU, and take it to my local shop to have it worked on? I wouldn't know where to start looking.
a New computer? This one was expensive, supposed to last me years, and I don't really know what would be equal or better.
How hot is concerning? When I played the game ^^ for a few mins. I have a basic health and temp monitor program from when I first had that Hitman Game issue. Before I played it, I was watching videos on Youtube with a bunch of tabs open of stuff I watch while working from home. A lot. But I use that built-in Edge memory saver, and an extension that does the same, so my tabs don't use as much memory when I'm not in them.
and at that time, my average resting temp was around 140F.
While in the game, I checked, and the temp peaked at 167F before I stopped testing.
Just now, beofre I hit Post, it's fluxuating between 32F and 132F, and I'd assume stays around that temp at least 2 days a week, between my working hours of 8am- about 5pm.
Edit: thought about it, and tried testing Arkham Knight. It wasn't slow.
I played for around 10 mins, and the Peak temp afterwards was 156F. That's hot, but from what I've read, not "start picking out a new computer" hot.
And, to my surprise, it was playable. I played for maybe 20-30 mins, before it suddenly slowed down to what it was like before. I made it to the next Grace, and quit. After I quit, I checked the max temp listed on the program, and it was 138F.
During this, I had the streamer from before in the BG, on a low P.
I think it likely is a Overheat thing.
How do I fix that? Is there something I should buy that would be better to prevent this?
A cooling stand? I had one years ago, for my older computer, cause then I didn't use a thing like I have now, between my hot Pc and myself. I got rid of that years ago, as the cord for it broke.
For Elden, and a lot of games I play, I keep graphics as low as I can stand it, which often is as low as can go. For BG3, I have graphics as low as can go, except for one setting, which prevents a modded heads and hairs from breaking, that one's on High.
Edit: after converting the american temps to proper measurements :P 58 celsius isn't bad for a GPU's temperature, they're usually rated for 80 or so, my 3060 doesn't throttle until it hits 83(that's 181.4 in american), unless it's your CPU hitting a limit, it doesn't seem like heat is your issue. Intell has had an issue with some of their newer CPUs and corrosion, unsure if yours falls into that category though, may be worth a check.
I don't have space for a normal pc, I'd say till I move out, unless I made changes to how I live my life currently. ... And get more money to buy one good enough.
When I got this laptop, It was planed as kinda my "dream computer:" Good specs compared to what I had, to play whatever was around at that time, and I bought a 3rd party Hard Drive, 8 TB, and had it installed at my local PC shop. Out of everything, I never thought Overheating would be any issue.
This morning, I tried to test BG3, as I thought my laptop was cooled overnight while it was off.
It was fast, but it was seconds in before it was a repeat of Hitman trilogy. The fan was blasting. so I alt+f4'ed, and didn't take a risk, and manually force turned off the computer, and let it sit for maybe 20 mins. and now it's fine.
I feel that I'm suddenly just getting a list of games I'm not allowed to play. It was a similar but different reasoning that I got this laptop in the first place.
Part of the issue is that I use this all the time. I was in different circumstances then, buy 2 computers ago, that computer ended when I had a thing wrong with it, took it to my local microsoft store, where they found something else: a swelled battery. So I had to get a new one, and couldn't even backup my old.
What would you do in my situation?
PS- I wrote this while working, and went around and added as I went, so sorry if it's a bit disjointed.
Oh, and FTL is so leightweight it should not be used for comparison.
In your situation I would have never bought it to start with. I like my laptops beefier just for that reason. The only thing you can try is a cooling pad.
13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-13420H 2.10 GHz
16.0 GB RAM
NVIDEA Geforce RTX 2050
Core temperature ranges from 50'C - 60'C
I listed these specs to provide a comparison, your GPU is slightly better however the 1-gen difference in CPU shouldn't be a problem.
That's the turbo kicking in, it's standard in all PCs minus most notebooks. On laptops, it's recommended to switch it off to preserve battery life and lower the CPU temperature. My turbo is turned off . To do that, go to: Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options > Change Power Plan > Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings. Scroll down to 'Processor Power Management' and change the 'Maximum Processor State' from '100%' to '95%' - this disables Turbo. Your fans will still get loud for intensive games, but they won't become jet engines.
Prolonged temperatures at 80'C (176'F) to 99'C (210.2'F) will damage the CPU, the PC has a fail safe to shut down the moment it reaches 100'C (212'F). This has only happened once when I was using HandBrake (video compression software) without configuring core usage in Task Manager.
edit: Are you saying it took 20 minutes for your laptop to cool? Maybe your definition of cool is lower than its average resting temperature. To clarify, it takes my laptop 1 minute to cool from 80'C (176'C) to 40'C (104'C).
I didn't know about Turbo, I thought something was wrong.

Maybe? I just left it turned off for 20 mins, about. Idk the temps at the time, but I didn't want to risk what I thought might be damage.
Same here when I got my first laptop. I freaked out the same way you did.
