Book of the Dead Gods not opening

Every now and then I get a play through where the book doesn't open at all, as in no dialog starts to even get to the spell checks. If I cast knock on it I can read the little blurb, but again, no dialog or skill checks. Sometimes I can go to a previous save and get it to trigger dialog, but that doesn't always work either.

Usually I wait until I get the gem before interacting with it.

I've noticed it can be rather glitchy in that I got another gem show up in my inventory at some point.

Oh right. Doesn't it first require a perception check before a religion check? Been awhile, waiting for the next big update.

There's a passive Perception check before you even interact with the book.

The bug may be caused when you pick it up before you try to read it for the first time.

Yeah, I've tried testing it multiple ways, different classes/races/attributes/etc, and the glitch seems to be completely random. What I have found is that if when I click on the book with MC and it just says "Locked", I can have Shadowheart click on it and it almost always triggers the proper dialog. Annoying, but it works.
