Use Hirelings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are extremely useful, you can use them to apply buffs like Longstrider, Mage Armor, Warding Bond, Aid, Death Ward, Freedom of Movement, etc.. to all of your party members without having to use any of your own party's spell slots. It can be time consuming to do this every long rest though, and it is kind of cheesy lol.

That's cheating wth

C'mon, man. You'll never get Shadowheart to love you like that

Nah.
Do what you want, but I can't be bothered to waste that kind of time to save a few low-level spell slots.

Also, to paraphrase Terry Pratchett, five or more exclamation points is a sure sign of madness.

Even on Tactician, the game is really not so hard that you need those buffs. Well, at least not unless you are messing about with a seriously weak party.
Which is not to say that a hireling isn't very useful here and there.

Hirelings are for the weak

Why would I want to cheese the game? If you want to cheat then just use a trainer or mods or something.

A bit tedious to do on the regular, but I'll acknowledge that I did do a bit of hireling-based buffing prior to a certain prison break.

I was thinking about setting one up as a Transmutation wizard and then have them make all my potions since they supposedly can make two potions for the price of one, but I haven't really found the need to so I haven't done it yet.

Get a bard hireling with max proficiency in medicine, take two points into wizard for transmutation and have them be your alchemist all game for double the potions on easy Medicine checks. This is extremely powerful.

Warding bond can also be pretty cheesy for honor mode if you leave one of the warded characters in camp for safety.

I am glad they added the hirelings. Easier to fill up your party with ones you can tolerate. And they are just as effective also. Without the baggage. And they can be custom changed to some degree. Visually esp.

I agree. No longer do I have to take useless Trickster Clerics like Shadowfart with me.

Instead I get to have based companions like Kerz.

You can change shadowheart's domain...only thing you are stuck with is her race and background...and appearance....and crappy attitude.

This is exactly what I do! I spec their Wisdom as high as possible and pick the Githyanki hireling because they get Astral Knowledge which gives them daily proficiency bonuses
