Do I Have To Fight the Flaming Fist?
I'm about to fight Gortash but due to my actions with the Steelwatch they're alI hostile towards me. Is this supposed to happen?

Ahh okay, that makes me feel better about killing them then. Thanks.

You can avoid fighting them though by sneaking around the back of the castle and climb directly to the chamber Gortash is in.

Tbh, the flaming fist are a mercenary company first and foremost, so I don't even feel that bad about fighting them. They threw their lot in with the highest bidder, who happens to be Gortash at the time, and they are paying the price.
Weird choice to have the city guard be mainly mercenaries that are being recruited by the promise of riches and the glory of victory, rather than having a city guard that is directly sworn to protect the city above all else.

Well, there is the Watch forces, that act as a sort of police. Fists, while being mercenaries, still arent your typical mercs for hire that would switch loyalty to those who promised more. The reason why they protect Gortash is simple - Gortash became the Archduke of the city and had Duke Ravengard under hist control.

Well the Guild is pretty much that. Well, sorta. Not really a police force in a sense, they just keep those who would hurt the city in check.

Well, the Guild are just your typical career criminals that profit when the status quo is upheld. Not surprised they are doing a better job dealing with outside threats than the fist. XD

If someone is hostile to you before you even get into their view, just kill them all. That's not that many exceptions where not killing someone who's hostile leads to extra dialogue or other consequences. Flaming Fist in the Wyrm's Rock are not one of those.
