"Are thrown weapons limited to just weapon and strength damage?"
Throwing is an action linked to STR. Weapons that do not have the "thrown" tag will be considered as an improvised weapon like a chair. Base damage is calculated on weight only. Improvised weapons do no benefit from additional sources of damages.
Weapons with the "thrown" tag will roll dices like a normal attack would do. Weapon with "finesse" will use DEX or STR for the rolls depending on which is higher like a normal attack.
I beat honor mode with 1/lock 11/EK, throwing daggers.
Edit: clarified some stuff
