Inner Sanctum of Gauntlet of Shar, where is it?
I think I am ready for a little bit of a spoiler. I just picked up the Spear of Night behind the Silent Library, and the quest is saying to clear the way to the inner sanctum. I have spent about an hour wandering around this area and have no idea where to go or what to look for. I am ready to just be told where it is, if anyone cares to help. Thanks!

You must've for sure ran past the altar to place the gems in.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-scYDKEJ7I skip all the way to the end section to see its location.

Ok, so I watched this video and all it tells me really, is that I did things in a different order than in the vid. And so I am not sure if I can complete this correctly. I talked to Balthazar earlier, and did not pick up the spear until after I used a sphere to descend the elevator. I did not do the rat or the Cloaker thing. Does this mean I cannot complete this area?

You don't even have to do the trials if you don't want to, there is no correct way or order. You can misty step onto the area in front of the entrance to the shadowfell and cast knock to open it, basically avoiding the whole thing. The spear isn't a requirement either, only if you want to get the moonlight glaive from Nightsong.

I recommend beating up Balthazar before you enter the Shadowfell tho. You don't have to, but the fight you have in his lab is much less annoying than the one that follows later.

Correction, you can't misty step onto it, you do have to do at least one trial/get one orb to get to the entrance.

This is my first play through so I should not be concerned in getting the ordering wrong. But I did read somewhere that the plot of the story is better if I do the Moonrise tower before entering Shadowfell. The problem is, I am so confused on what is what here. So if I proceed as I am doing now, I am "entering the Shadowfell"? Perhaps I should just go away for now and visit the Moonrise tower first.

Entering the Shadowfell starts the end of Act 2. There can be more to do, but all unfinished business left over from Act 1 will conclude.

Personally, I clear out all of Moonrise Towers except the very top floor (behind the doors) before entering the Shadowfell. However, before sanitising MT, you finish all the trials in the Gauntlet of Shar. Experience counts, and you want to be at the maximum possible level before either the Shadowfell or the rooftop of MT and what goes on afterwards.

I second that. There's more than a few people worth talking to in Moonrise. You can leave Shar's dungeons anytime and keep exploring elsewhere. There's no repercussions for that.

Also ngl, on a first and even second playthrough the whole layout and samey hallways can get super confusing. I remember being very stressed too on my first run too.

I am still confused about where is this Shadowfell which I ought to enter after Moonrise, but since I am still on Act 2, I am confident I did not yet stumble into it. I had some kind of idea that entering Moonrise would mean I was heading into Act 3, but ok, now I am wiser. So, no problems with this first playthrough. I will leave the Gauntlet now, head to Moonrise, and then come back. Thanks for the help everyone!

The Shadowfell is not an area you can stumble into or explore normally. Once you get to the point of entering it, after an in-game reminder that this is a point of no return, you will know. Remember: before you enter the Shadowfell, finish every quest in Act 2, explore every part of the Shadow-Cursed Lands. (You can kill every baddie too. Just make sure they are baddies. 😋)

The only thing I would advise you to leave until after the Shadowfell is taking on Ketheric.

Any more, and there will be too many spoilers. 😋
