Battelmaster fighter is probably the most simple yet S tier monoclass.
Moon druid is great early game and decent all game but never S tier. Tempest cleric i'd say is S tier and for me if I had to pick a pure caster it would be dragon sorc
Open hand/thrower monk
id rate those all as A+ to S tier mono classes except moon druid which is A+ tier act 1 and 2 but falls off a bit later. still A tier tho
For instance, fighters get gud quickly compared to most caster classes, with lots of good melee items in Act 1 & 2.
At level 9 though I think one of the most powerful monoclasses is an Oath of Vengeance Paladin for getting the Haste spell and Blinding Smites, turning you into a killing machine.
I'd go Githyanki for a fighter/paladin for Misty Step and the ability to use the OP Githyanki swords (there's at least three named ones but even just the green ones are good).
If you want to really do tons of damage then its still possible to easily acquire Deva Maces early in Act 3. One of these combined with Smites will produce big damage numbers, especially when combined with Haste.
1) Fighter
2) Sorcerer
3) Cleric (more of a buffer though)
4) Paladin
5) Shapeshifter druid
6) Tavernbrawler monk
7) Sword bard archer
After that there is a step down to the next one
8) Tavernbrawler barbarian thrower
9) Gloomstalker ranger
10) Wizard
11) Warlock
Then there is a step down to the last one:
12) Rogue thief
The only really bad class in my opinion is the rogue, the other classes all have their possible strength in the right situation.
My honor mode clear was land druid until lvl 10 then I respeced to moon druid for the myramidon forms. I did it with only a friend. We only play 1 character each. So we duoed honor mode basically. I built high ac to protect my concencrations. At lvl 6 I was able to self haste/mirror image/owlbear and dive into combat.
By the end I was in water myrmidon form with a summoned water myrmidon. I had a fey summon that summoned tree bark. I would use the free growth spikes from the fey, the vines on the tree and just aoe blast for both myrmidons.
fire dragon sorc built for modifier multi hits is probably the strongest caster build in the game. Though sorc doesn't start to take off till they get their charisma capped.
I typically only play mono except for paladin combos. 7 pally 5 pact lock. 2 pally 10 swords bard.
Druid may not be S+ tier from start to finish, but it's hands down 1st until about halfway in. Then it starts to slide due to other classes scaling better. If you want a smooth act 1 you take a druid. The druid will see to it that the other classes live to see their scaling.
You can min max the heck out of this class, becoming the god of the verdant abyss.
Dual wielding swords, dps tank, AoE caster, area denial, chokepoint builder.
All around terrain manipulation.
Pick duergar for extra cheese.
