bard song progression
What if Larian implements a bard song progression in patch 7. Lets say with a collected money from the songs you unlock new songs. Some hidden sheets with music, which you read, unlock new songs etc. Some other new ideas? What songs do u wish?

When I played as a bard, I actually thought I would find new sheets with music in the world. It was a bit sad that I didnt. I think it wouldnt be too difficult for Larian to add some more songs for bard, I would welcome that.

Yeah it's not too difficult to fully compose multiple musical pieces which fit the specific limits they have set, and to then transpose it for all instruments, some of which are extremely limited with their range (Lyre, Flute). Why don't you do it as a mod?

I said it wouldnt be difficult for Larian, not just anybody. Compared to all the changes and improvements they have made since Early Access, adding a couple of simplified melodies, without lyrics, and some new loot that would not affect the story, yeah, I believe it would not be a difficult task for such professionals.

This sounds like something that could easily be added in a future [strikethrough]DLC[/strikethrough] patch. Maybe even a mod, I would love that! A minute problem could be that the total arrangements are for six instruments, so it is already hard to hear them in full even if all four party members can perform well enough. With new music we probably will only ever be able to hear four voices. No reason not to do it, it might hold a composer back a bit though.

Because Larian, as a video game developer, has an orchestral composer and multiple musicians on standby at all times.

They do have a composer. I bet he's focused on their next project by now though.

A few more bardic melodies is a type of content that does not collide with the story, does not interfere with the complex relations among characters, doesnt affect the skills or combat or anything. From this point of view, it would not be a difficult thing to add.

And for Larian? They are the top professionals in the business, I would never underestimate them. When I was playing Divinity Original Sin 2, they kept adding new content - for free! There was the Gift bag with Crafters Kit, Herb Garden etc. There was the Story of Sir Lora, there were The Four Relics of Rivellon - which included new quests as well! They made all those updates for free, to spice up the game. There is nothing difficult for them. I dont understand your problem but I guess it is related to your username.. I guess you dont know who Larian is. Never mind then :D

fully compose multiple musical pieces

Dude they have like 3 akkords for their song ingame.
And it's 2024, not 1970. Even AI makes that for you in less than a second, or someone with a guitar jamming for a minute.

"Fully compose" is really not what it is.

Yes it's just 6 instruments that don't have to just sound good by themselves but also when combined with each other, not just all of them together either. This is months of work for a composer who also has other projects, recording, etc. You all vastly underestimate the time and effort that's behind this. If you are fine with AI ♥♥♥♥ tier quality and phrasing you can ---> make it yourself and mod it in.

He is not a larian employee, he is an independent contractor.

Creating musical pieces is way more effort on this scale than just "look you have this hat in green now" level coding. No matter how good of a developer you are, that has no effect on the creative process. This is way more costly to organise. Other "free updates" are made by people who are already full time employees of Larian - it's their job. Larian will have to fork over money to get music created.

Its worth it though, I mean if star wars films also said something like oh spending on music is too much money, it wouldnt be an epic film/game etc.

You clearly have no idea about how Larian worked on Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 and about the massive extent of changes they have made. Pointless to talk to you about it then.
jnn123 Jul 9, 2024 @ 3:14am
Maybe they should ask the composers of their Raphael songs and give them some money, I am sure they'll come up with something good :D

Iam working with Ableton and Steinberg for years now and you vastly overestimate the time it takes. It is not a month; not at all. Not even remotely to a month. And you vastly underestimate the capabilities of AI these days; many do.
Point being they have live recorded the stuff they have now. If you now put ableton ♥♥♥♥ it in will be a noticeable difference.
