auntie ethel
so apparently they mustve changed it so you cant cheese The hag in her hut. Cause arcane lock doesnt work anymore she still is able to escape. Is there a way other than just nuking her fast to get her before she ports out? I heard using grease can help.

I once locked the only NPC on the second floor of the Inn in Wyrm's Crossing inside the bathroom so I could loot all the chests.

Ethel, considering you are like level 4 or higher, is pretty doable. At least outside of Honor mode:

Cast an AoE Spell to reveal her
(optional) Daze her (with a Pommel Strike or that one mace weapon action)
Command: Grovel (45% if you didnt daze, 70% if you did daze)
(optional) Daze her now if you didnt before
UNLOAD EVERYTHING YOU GOT

On her next turn, she can only get up from prone, and since she is dazed, you should have a 65%/70% chance to hit grovel a second time after which she should be minced meat. IF not, keep making her grovel.

Oh most of the time I beat her before she can run to the stairs. I just like finding a good use for the spells and that was the only one I had found for Arcane Lock.

There are probably a few other instances where you might be able to loot some chests by locking a door, but they aren't going to be anything special. I really thought this was an intended use for the spell. The basically turned it into Infravision in BG1,

I was able to do it on a recent run just by casting Command: Grovel and Hold Person on her. Kept her around for a couple of turns which was enough time to end her before she could flee.

I wish you could get the +1 hag hair bonus by ganking her in her teahouse. It's pretty easy to 1-turn her if you do a little prep (see invis, command:grovel, etc), but she only does the dialogue if you get her below 20% in her lair. All you get for killing her in the house is an angry widow and a few confused but grateful freed prisoners.

Mayrina is not going to be mad if you tell her Ethel killed her brothers (of course given she actually killed them(whether through the illusion/red caps or herself))

There is a mod that makes her drop the hair on death.

Main file gives +1 to all stats, but if you get the "hag hair choice" optional file you can choose which stat to make it less OP.
