Is Wyll boring until the end ?
It's my first playthrough, I just bought the game, so I am still discovering the story.

I'm still at Act1 and honestly Wyll is a very bland and boring character. I love them all except him. I don't even bring him out of the camp because just hearing his voice makes me want to sleep.

I wonder if he gets any better later or is he just the "nice guy" of the game forever ?

Eh...pretty much. Matter of taste, obviously, but I never found anything in his storyline all that interesting.

Theres some devil stuff that is pretty engaging. Despite it being connected to Wyll though, I barely considered Wyll and found the interactions with the devils far more interesting.

Wyll isnt a bad character. Hes not like Jacob in ME2 who is genuinely a bad person. And OOC hes not bad written. Hes just very one note. Whenever I talk to him I feel like im listening to someone read to me.

Ultimately yes. There are some genuine Wyll fans out there, but mostly he stays the same and if your not swooning now chances are you wont be swooning in 10 hours.

HO YES YES

He's like Jacob exactly !!!!

He's so nice guy and all vertuous it just makes him not interesting and listening to him makes me want to skip his dialogues....

I likes when characters have flaws, they don't have to be evil but just not be Mary Sue-like. For me ShadowHeart is way better than Wyll, I love how pretentious she is, it makes her more human than Wyll the perfect-boy.

Wyll and Karlach are both pretty bad. I don't use either of them. Depending on what I play my 4th character in the party is either Astarion or Gale. I almost always have the Fighter and Cleric (Lae'zel and Shadowheart).
take wyll down to the fish people and sacrifice him to get a neat buff

Wyll is so OP mid-late game, you definitely want to use him as an origin character if you find him boring. Also it's interesting to do an evil Wyll run

Wyll actually plays better as an origin character rather than a companion. All his unique dialogue seems designed for someone that's the party face. In contrast he brings almost nothing as a companion or worse, a romance option. He's the only companion that doesn't have a romantic greeting, and the pacing of the romance is way off.

A lot of people in the community cry justice for Karlach, but she's Astarion/Shadowheart tier in comparison to Wyll. He just comes off as a generic hero and you can really see that they ran out of time with him. Lae'zel is an origin character that gives you an amazing playthrough and is also a strong companion story, so it definitely was possible to do both, but with Wyll got the short end of the stick.

I think your opinion of the voice actor is crazy though. He did a brilliant job. In every playthrough I'm sad there's almost nothing to do with his character after Act 1.

Eldritch Blaster builds are extremely strong though, so he's never bad to have in the party.

So... Wyll is interesting, His appearance can change drastically. I only made it to the end of Act 2, I have not yet ventured into Act 3... but I think Wyll makes one of the best Origin characters to pick. When you click on him, he has a lot of soft quip's that don't distract you, he is a gentle protagonist to an extreme that even a Tav can't quite replicate.

Ngl he can feel pretty disconnected to the plot. I feel like it is less about himself and more so about the influence and connection others have on/to him.

ho okay, that's too bad because I prefer to play my own custom characters.

I don't know about the voice actor, but yeah I think he's bland. Maybe it's just that his dialogues are so generic and the character doesn't have any big flaw like the others that just makes him boring. He's just that usual good guy that wants to be good and do good and all his choices are for the greater good. Meh

At this point he's not much interesting than a npc honestly.

I blew over Wyll on my first run for this exact reason. While he is lawful/good his story basically IS Baldurs gate. His quest runs from beginning act1 through act 3.

Hes definitely better as an origin. hes the only origin i've played and its interesting to be the one hiding your deal with a devil from the rest of the partry.

Mizora is the balance to Wy'll do gooder style though and as I said it plays out until late act 3

Im on a full evil durge run and without Wy'll there's a LOT less going on especially at camp. No Mizora and there are an S tier quest reward in act 2 that are no longer available

As well as the iron throne quest.

I like Wyll as a companion and romance for Karlach, even though I have not and never will play either character. Wyll is just a great background character for ambient lore and his connection to the Hells as a sort of foil for Karlach's 'Sword of Damocles'.

I play Wyll in my current run. It's fun, it's a nice storyline. With just three slots for companions, he would probaly not my pick for an arcane caster though, Gale is more fun, I think. But yeah, Wyll is the consummate hero, every story needs one.

When deciding at which altar to play, it had to be Helm for Wyll. Personally I don't really like that god, but he is almost guaranteed to have been brought up in that tradition. Speaking of, I'm off to save daddy ;-)

Yeah. Id say the main difference is that Jacob is genuinely just a bad person. Like, hes a legitimately bad person. While Wyll isnt. Aside from that they are very similar in alot of ways.

Shadowheart is a fantastic romance choice and overall just a wonderful companion to have around. Its why shes so loved.
