Carrying water barrels wasn't really an option, since my group tends to hoard things and rather carry smokepowder barrels :D
For Tempest Clerics you're basically hosed. You need a Water Support in your party to pull off Wet combos.
For Wizards and Druids, however, you have another option: the Water Myrmidon (which you can get from a 6th level Conjure Elemental).
It's going to involve a little bit of speed tuning (either by popping a Vigilance Elixir onto your Myrmidon or getting your character on a low-DEX build that's 15 or lower), but what you can do is have your Myrmidon cast Healing Vapors on the area you want to screen nuke, then Chain Lightning that area. Wet from Healing Vapors only lasts a turn and Water Myrmidons have a +4 Initiative at base, so that speed tuning is critical if you want a single-action nuke (being 2 points slower than the Water Myrmidon means it goes before you roughly 50-75% of the time).
However, if you set it up this way, you have a one-man vaporizer ready to go. Bonus Points: You have a built-in token heal (average of 9 HP per cast) that doesn't take a spell slot, so you end up naturally chonky as a result, and the Myrmidon itself has 127 HP and an AC of 18 which is REALLY good defensively (never had mine die except during Ansur and his nova, not even Raphael could take one down when it was buffed to hell).
This does mean, however, that you can't benefit from Hiemal Strike or the Ice Bombs that the Myrmidon has - since for Lightning DPS the main strat is spamming vapors - so bear that in mind for party composition. If you play an Ice DPS, Hiemal Strike is the more preferred combat option since it procs Chill.
Not what they were asking, but okay.
