Depends on the source. If you cast a Sunbeam through your allies, they are going to get burned. If you instead use Spirit Guardians, only enemies will be affected by your radiant aura.

If it is directly targeted at them and/or they are within an AoE, then pretty much yes. Wizards can Sculpt AoE spells of the appropriate discipline so allies in the blast zone don't take damage, but I don't know if anyone else can do that.

Keep your moonbeams FAR from your buddies, because these stupid ♥♥♥♥♥ will walk straight through it every. single. time.

1) Normal rule: read the spell description carefully. If it says all creatures, it will hurt your party. If it says enemies, you are good to go.

2) Superceding rule: Wizards who choose Evocation School can 'sculpt spells' from not directly hitting party members *with Evocation spells* (which tend to be the big AOE bangers). BUT: Wizards know next to no radiant spells, see here:

https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Evocation

So unless you are casting*:

An AOE
On the Evocation List
That is Radiant
With an Evocation School Wizard

It will hurt party members.

(*and the only thing that ticks those first three boxes is Moonbeam (only Wizardable by scroll or multi-class) or Sunbeam)

Gale likes to initiate his revival quest via Kagha's moonbeam almost every game for me

To be clear, sculpt spells generally comes up with an Evoker like Gale -- he can bomb away with the classic D&D wizard AOEs and not hurt your party directly. Secondary explosions, powder barrels, residual burning surfaces, etc. absolutely will still hurt your party, but the big initial AOE hit will not.

I've never thought of using Gale with Radiant, but with some late Act III battles vs. Undead, Sunbeam --which is underpowered vs. other L6 spells -- might be a good idea.

Cull the Weak states that it hits all creatures in a radius, but in my experience it never hit allies. Similarly, I ran Radiant Orb Shadowheart and never had to worry about any of the splash effects hitting allies, with the exception of Sunbeam (which, in my experience, was a slightly larger area of affect than the targeting shows).

Q: Does radiant damage hurt allies?

A: Only if they're Ginger.

It does, especially if you have allied summoned creatures like undead (cuz necromancy).

Keep those especially away from radiant damage.

Also one other thing to note - some devils reflect it back on you.

The Radiant spells that can splash damage friendlies are the following:
- Moonbeam
- Sunbeam

The ones that target single opponents, that you can potentially mis-click and damage friendlies with, are*:
- Sacred Flame
- Guiding Bolt
- Branding Smite
- Blinding Smite
* - The specificity of these is more apparent if you have an active Elemental or Myrmidon in the party, since they have DECEPTIVELY big hitboxes for the mouse.

The two spells that can deal radiant damage but specifically don't target friendlies in any capacity are:
- Spirit Guardians
- Destructive Wave

Of this list, the ONLY radiant spell that isn't Evocation is Spirit Guardians. So, a 2 level dip into WIZ for Evoker before multiclassing into Druid, Paladin, Bard, or Cleric will make all of the AoE radiant spells "smart-target". Moonbeam is still a meme because if a creature isn't friendly (i.e., they are yellow/neutral) then they can get tagged by the spell.

It's not possible to get all of these spells onto a single character. The best you can do is to do a WIZ 2 / CLC 10 multiclass with the Light Domain (this nets you Sunbeam, Sacred Flame, Guiding Bolt, Spirit Guardians, and Destructive Wave).

Specifically, does
Radiance of The Dawn damage allies?
