I think Gortash is easier than Sarevok, and Orin is easier than either of the other two.
Only visiting Orin puts the hostage in danger.

Hm the first thing I'd ask, if I'm reading "I read it... on Reddit", would be how old was that post? Because so far every time someone had read something there it was month's old, and even from early access. So: how old were the posts? ;)
But to rephrase it more carefully - I personally didn't have an outright dead hostage, no matter how many long rests. (and KRON & the WIki people also confirm that there is no limit, so "backup" ;)
I mean, without metagaming, one probably should prioritize defeating the one that has taken a hostage and is all murdery over defeating the one who hasn't taken a hostage and initially, sincerely invited you to *join* him... but the game will not punish you for choosing the opposite order.
I do recall the Sarevok fight being a challenge, but I chose to go into that blind and also wasn't being particularly tactical regarding dealing with the apparatitions helping him, and Sarevok ended up with some nasty buffs as a result.
Edit: I've had the game since early access, but never progressed past the druid grove and Withers. It was really weird coming back to the game and some parts being changed or missing, since there was a whole extra fight on the ship during tutorial lol
So this is my first long run and I don't want to do things I'll regret ;P
(Yeah, there have been a lot of changes over time compared to EA ^^ - And I do get why they changed the Nautiloid intro to make it shorter and more compact, especially if someone starts several runs, but I also liked that open upper ship part... ;)
Anyway, good luck and no stress with the rest - you're almost there to change the fate of the city in one way or the other ;D
From my understanding Orin will only kill her victim if you confront her and fail one of the ensuing Charisma checks (I think the DC for all of them is 25, so be prepared for that). I also just read that you can initiate combat from afar to bypass the check and/or use the Knock spell to free the character. Basically there's no need to worry about long resting; nothing can happen to them until you're there to deal with it.
