[Act 3 Spoilers] Order of killing the baddies?
Alright so, I've done about half the quests in Act 3, saved everyone in the Iron Throne, blew up the Factory and killed the wizard to let Aylin rest with her Isobel. Then Lae'zel got kidnapped (funnily enough I broke up with her just before that lol) and all I've got left are some minor side quests like the Mummy Lord and Hag.
Now to the question, I went to the Murder Tribunal and got my ass handed to me twice, so I looked it up. Apparently there's a timer after killing Saverok and I have to save the hostage or Lae'zel will die, but I haven't killed Gortash yet, and some people say to do Orin first.
In what order should I kill them? Gortash, Saverok, Orin?

The layout of the game suggests you should do Gortash > Sarevok > Orin in terms of who is the easiest to access (plus the trigger point for the final boss sequence is in Orin's area), but truthfully it doesn't matter whether you kill Orin or Gortash first. I have seen recommendations that you should be at least level 11 before trying though.

From my understanding Orin will only kill her victim if you confront her and fail one of the ensuing Charisma checks (I think the DC for all of them is 25, so be prepared for that). I also just read that you can initiate combat from afar to bypass the check and/or use the Knock spell to free the character. Basically there's no need to worry about long resting; nothing can happen to them until you're there to deal with it.

Gortash->Sarevok->Orin or Sarevok->Orin->Gortash.

I think Gortash is easier than Sarevok, and Orin is easier than either of the other two.

There is no timer after killing Sarevok. The quest log suggests that "you should hurry before Orin realizes what's up", but you can long rest as much as you want.

Wherever you "looked it up" (was it by any chance the Facebook page of your uncle's third cousin maybe?)... There is no timer/time limit for the hostage/rescue.

Only visiting Orin puts the hostage in danger.

A few posts on reddit talk about it, and for some the hostage was killed after just one long rest? I don't want the game to be more stressful than the Iron Throne was, I like all my companions alive :/

The hostage may be killed depending on your dialogue choices with Orin, but the amount of time between kidnapping and killing or not killing Sarevok is irrelevant.

Heh yeah, the first time Iron Throne can be stressful, just because of the surprises of that whole encounter. ^^

Hm the first thing I'd ask, if I'm reading "I read it... on Reddit", would be how old was that post? Because so far every time someone had read something there it was month's old, and even from early access. So: how old were the posts? ;)

But to rephrase it more carefully - I personally didn't have an outright dead hostage, no matter how many long rests. (and KRON & the WIki people also confirm that there is no limit, so "backup" ;)

For somebody who's really into gratuituous murder, Orin is really rather patient and understanding. :D

I mean, without metagaming, one probably should prioritize defeating the one that has taken a hostage and is all murdery over defeating the one who hasn't taken a hostage and initially, sincerely invited you to *join* him... but the game will not punish you for choosing the opposite order.

I do recall the Sarevok fight being a challenge, but I chose to go into that blind and also wasn't being particularly tactical regarding dealing with the apparatitions helping him, and Sarevok ended up with some nasty buffs as a result.

A few months old which is why I'm asking here to get a better answer :>
Edit: I've had the game since early access, but never progressed past the druid grove and Withers. It was really weird coming back to the game and some parts being changed or missing, since there was a whole extra fight on the ship during tutorial lol
So this is my first long run and I don't want to do things I'll regret ;P

I was the same, also wanted to do all and as best as I could, so a very understandable approach ;)

(Yeah, there have been a lot of changes over time compared to EA ^^ - And I do get why they changed the Nautiloid intro to make it shorter and more compact, especially if someone starts several runs, but I also liked that open upper ship part... ;)

Anyway, good luck and no stress with the rest - you're almost there to change the fate of the city in one way or the other ;D
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
