It's not what I'd prefer, tho. FR's a huge setting in and of itself and Mindflayers are Planeswalkers; it'd make sense that the people on the Nautiloid could've come from any walk of life, from any locale.
It's why for Build-a-B*tch challenges (How to make X in BG3 sort of thing) I specifically avoid the [BALDURIAN] tagged responses as much as able.
I distinctly remember expecting the [BALDURIAN] tag to be one of several options you could pick for a character background in the full release, sort of like DOS2's tag system, and being a bit surprised when that wasn't the case.
It wasn't really something you could choose, per se. Just presented in a similar manner to D:OS2's tags before the UI reworks.
