error code 526 cant save

any one know who to fix this, i have plenty of memoery space on my hard drive and delete loads of save files

You may have space on the disk, but the game may not have sufficient permission to write on the disk.
Look at your antivirus potentially interfering with the game, or windows interfering with file permissions.

If it's not a space issue, then it's likely either a syncing issue or a permissions one.

Try disabling Steam cloud saving for the game, and in the game's settings, cross-saving.
Try running the game as administrator.

Also, something that worked for DOS:2, which was built on an older version of the engine, was travelling to a different area and then saving. Might work.
