Simple question: Can you get Alfira without playing as the dark urge?
I've been trying to find a more recent answer to this because after helping her with her song and watching the cut scene, I was pretty pumped that I might be able to recruit her. But everything I can find says no, so I'm just looking for a yes or no to my question. But if it is possible to get her without playing dark urge, how?

No, you don’t get Alfira with the Dark Urge or Tav. She doesn’t become a companion in this game. You do get to kill her as the Dark Urge and as Tav you will see her later on in the game.

There is a mod to recruit her as a hireling. She is a bard, of course. Again, I don't know how wonky this gets when she runs into "herself" later on in the game, I think each version just ignores the other, LOL. Now, as a hireling, don't expect her to say or do much more than the other hirelings, of course.

It's kind of wild that the devs decided to give us Halsin as a companion, when we already can get another druid, but didn't want to give us Alfira. AFAIK, her quests essentially end when you rescue her gf from prison. In Act 3 she just sits up on a roof. They could have had her possibly join the camp then.

They didn't, Halsin wasn't designed as the companion at the start. It was beta players setting up a whole campaign to get buff elf daddy as a companion so they pivoted.

I agree it's a shame we have no bard companion, or sorcerer for that matter.

I mean, you can take her soul. Not enough?

She knew the roof would give her strong plot armor hence why she never moves from there.

You dont get her as Dark Urge, if anything that might be a mod
As Dark Urge you will be forced to kill her after a long rest (once you entered the Druid Grove), you can avoid the kill if you knock her out (with non-lethal attacks active) and then you get a secret cutscene the next long rest and she will still live

I was actually surprised that we can get two Druids but not a Bard as a companion.
Looks like they really wanted us to meet Jaheira. It would be better if Halsin was just a friendly NPC that will help us and insted we should have had Alfira. Dark Urge could kill anyone in the camp, it wouldn't matter.

I am aware. That's why it is strange that they weren't willing to do the same thing for Alfira. Her questlines end the same time Halsin's do, so it would have been no more difficult to make her a late-game companion.

i tried desperately to keep her alive on my honor Durge. I knocked her out 9 times! to make sure she never made it to my camp (no save scum). -90 approval rate. when you kill isobel she dies in act 2 anyways.

I guess you could just kill your romantic interest, maybe she would live? not sure

People didn't ask on the same scale.
